Insect bites

Lordy, Lordy, I'm getting bitten to death here at the moment, August is the pits as we get bitten all the time. You don't see anything though, you just feel a wee tickle and then you itch and itch.

Any natural repellants you can recommend? I did hear to eat Marmite as they don't like it, but as I don't know what "they" are (as we can't ever see anything having a nibble) I don't know if it would work.

Any ideas please?

I'll never be bored as I can just play dot to dot on meself

You could try a rub down with vinegar Cb to take the itch away. Although you will smell like a chippy  Cat Wink  Cat LOL

Apparantly if you eat garlic it makes your blood taste funny so the insects don't bite, I think you can get a citronella spray that will keep the little blighters away.

Huge sympathies I always get bitten by horseflies and swell up like a balloon,

The Avon Skin So Soft lotion is very good as a repellent.

A dab of lavendar essential oil on the bites stops the itching and heals them up quickly.

No advice on prevention though

Bicarb of soda made into a paste can help, but its a bit messy. Calamine lotion also.

I'm suffering too.  All over my legs and two huge swellings as if I've been stung are on my arms.  Very attractive.
It seems a new one pops up every hour.  What is going on?

I have boots Hydrocortisone cream, but does nothing to relieve it

Beejeebers! they're still at it!!!

I'd taken an antihistamine yesterday as the one behind my knee was itching like mad. I have some Anthisan cream which does help a bit, and I have the blue skin so soft from Avon which is excellent in the garden on face neck and arms the boogers won't come near you then. Maybe I'll have to spray it all over meself when I go to bed too.

The culprit I think is a wee tiny fly about half the thickness of a grain of rice...saw one on my tshirt yesterday, I think they get caught in the fabric when you dry clothes outside on the line.

Poor Streety....they drive you bonkers don't they.

Thanks for the tip on the garlic, so it's Garlic, Marmite, Avon, and a stick of dynamite then eh?

it's war I tell ye.........................................

Insect bites

I think it is ants......... I have had bites on my left leg near my knee and felt sick for two days. I am a bit allergic to them so had to go and get some benedryl to take. I eat loads of garlic here so that doesn't seem to work with me. 😞 Must try the marmite thing and see if that works.

Life is too short so enjoy it while you can!

Insect bites

Years ago CB I was in my 40's 😉 and I used to play flat green bowls, one bowling green was dreadful for mosquito bites. I got one on my lower leg and needed hospital treatment daily for one week, couldnt get the area wet and I had to go shoeless as nothing fitted my foot.

While at the hospital each day I was treated by different nurses, some had never seen the horrid mess it had made while others were more informative as to why the mozi chose me!

Age and hormone levels were one, the mozi knew if it was 'that time'! lol apparently we secrete a hormone they are attracted to at that time.

Another nurse told me that you only need biting once and then further bites will appear along sweat lines on your body, this becomes clear when one appears on your backside or nicker line! lol or around your bra line.

Touch wood now im into my 60's I dont seem troubled with them..........looks like ive gorn orfWoman LOL

I was BTW a TCP girl!
