I survived

Operation went pretty well, surgeon said that it was easier than the previous times that he's operated as it hadn't been left too long and the cysts weren't too firmly attached.

There is some neurological defecit, but he is fair;y ertain that it is only due to inflamation and bruising and that it will improve over the next week.

I have full movement, just some numbness and pins and needles in my hands, and a very weak grip. Can't hold a pen very well, need to use a straw when drinking, using cutlery is a bit tricky and fastenings like buttons and my bra are impossible.

Should be home on Monday.

I haven't told him yet - he only popped in briefly this afternoon, just to see if I was coming home or not. He won't be in to visit until Sunday evening as he's got eldest son this weekend.

Nah, he'll be fine, it doesn't really impact on him so he'll have forgotten about it by the time he gets home.

Hands are much better today. Managed the spoon ok for a yoghurt at breakfast, but I chickened out when it came to buttering toast and got the student to do it for me.

The dressing fell off, but the nurse says that it is clean and dry and looks to be healing well.
