I can't delete these emails

Is anyone else having a problem with their emails? I have got, in bold type, and highlighted in a purpley colour, about 3 emails, one from F/B of which I am no longer a user, and there is no facility to delete them. At the side of the heading, there is an "s" with lines all the way round it. How do I get rid of these emails please and how do I block them? Tried the usual way of blocking them but it just says not a valid address. Thanks.

Ask on the techie board because a long time ago, I seem to remember having problems with these kinds of emails with an old ISP and system - they're potentially virus/trojan carriers.

I think you cannot even mark them as spam either.

Ok thanks, wil lgo onto the techie board. Can't do anything with them at all. On the right hand side, it says "sponsored."

Many thanks, aernethril, that's a big help. I've installed an ad-free add on and the annoying emails have gone.
