I make it by guesswork! I just tip some milk and some porridge oats into a saucepan
and cook it gently until it looks about right.
It's best of all with evaporated milk and brown sugar on, but I'm not supposed to eat
those so I only have it occasionally with that, or a banana on.
I've been reminded of it now and want some!

Milk and sugar in a pan, add oats, boil for a minute, put in wide soup plate, fill up plate with evaporated milk. Yummy!:-D

from my ma was diagnosed with bowel cancer (some years back) she always starts the day with RC's porridge.
(she is still cancer free) not saying this is a cure......just saying she is very careful about what she eats;-)

Make mine with full fat milk, and if there is cream in the fridge will drizzle some over the top along with some sugar or honey

Real old-fashioned oats...made with milk.
I like it so I can stand my spoon up in it. I never add milk after, just a wee bitty sugar & sometimes sliced banana.
I loves porridge :-x

Porridge....!!! Porridge....!!!
Did someone say porridge?
Well ladies talking of porridge here is my claim to 'fame'??
In the early 70's I was a trainee chef at the Midland Hotel in Bradford.
In its day it was quite a prestigious hotel... I think it was owned by BR at the time..
Any way one morning I was breakfast chef at the hotel... and an order came up for a bowl of porridge... followed by a cooked breakfast...
It was for....
And I just know how impressed you all will be.....
Ted Heath who was the Prime Minister at the time....
Well come on how many of you have cooked the Prime Ministers breakfast?

I make very nawty porridge! Full cream milk, and a can of evaporated milk, steeped over night in a bain-marie. So thick and creamy, deffo not good for the heart!

Water, oats and a pinch of salt, a little milk and sprinkling of sugar over the top when cooked.
Used to be the top of the milk when I was a child but it's semi-skimmed now. However our milk is from a Jersey herd and I swear their semi-skimmed is far creamier than normal milk:-D
