Son's computer has "died". Also it is his birthday today, "him indoors" has been fobbing him off for months - every time he asks for a whistling clanger toy he's been told "on your birthday". So when promised item did not appear, there was a major upset. The really annoying thing is there at least 6 of said toys in the cupboard, but they all require "surgery" to replace the battery - something that I am highly practiced at.

Hi brynteg, sorry to hear about the car, best advise on cars anyone has given me was years ago by a mechanic, he said only but Jap or German. Have never been let down by VW or Toyota in over 25 years (touch wood): manhappy:

Sorry to hear about your car problems Bryn. Friends of ours swear by Renaults and they have one each. I have a Fiesta and it's the third Ford I've had and they've been brilliant.

I have a peaujot 306 Y reg 40 thousand miles on the clock, every year I have it serviced and MOT and thats it, never bought oil, screen wash, brake fluid anything. I usually have to have something done like tyres, brake pads, windcreen wipers. Oh had to have exhaust system last year, but all general wear and tear. Wont tempt fate but I have had her for 10 years and she has been fab. Everytime I take her to the garage one of the mechanics tries to buy her off me, he says its the best car they made. My father always buys German or Japanese and says they are the best, however he bought a Merc last year and it was in the garage more than it was at home, he has now sold it and bought another one, 85 next year and driving a Mercedes convertable, not bad eh.

I have only had one "accident" in my old car and that was last year on July, Friday 13th - where me and the bloke opposite me reversed into each other whilst coming out of the drive due to the way cars park on the road/pavement on our street. Today I made sure that I had reversed onto the drive so that when I went out at 7pm I just drove straight out.
