You don't have to use the attachment to post your pics, you can still post them via photobucket. Just hope this info helps to keep this thread going 🙂
If using IE8 as your browser :-
Left click in reply box first, then minimise the page.Open PB in a seperate window & click on the photo you want to post. Next, drag the photo down to the taskbar by holding down the right hand button. Then let go of the right hand button inside the reply box & an option box comes up - click on "copy here"
For Firfox users.
Left click in the reply box first. Open Photobucket in a new tab & click on the photo you want to post. On the next page, right click on the photo & choose "view image" The photo will them come up on a page on it's own. Left click & hold down & drag it to the "post Reply" tab. The tab will then open, then let go of the left mouse button as you hover over the reply box.

YW Dangermooser 🙂
If your photo is more than 590 pixels wide, it will cut off the right hand side of it. So some pics will need to be reduced in size.

Firstly, wow there's some stunning photos on here. I haven't seen them all yet, I must set aside some time after Xmas to work through the thread.
I need some tripod help please. First question are man froto any good??
Its for my OH. He has a canon eos 400d. He has some long distance lenses about 18" long so needs something that will take a few kg. I've been looking at some tripods and 3-way head kits with a handle but don't really know what to go for, I mean there's some fantastic stuff out there is money is no object.
He takes stills, mainly would like to do panoramics and could do with something that has good adjusment side and angle, something with a quick release, handle and easy adjustment as he does have trouble with anything that's fiddly to undo.
The other thing is maximum height. He's 5ft10 with a bad back and so he needs it tall enough so he's not stooping. He has a portable tripod which is fine for standing on a table etc but not full size. Is there anything out there that is not too expensive?

Hi angrydragon, Manfrotto and Giottos are both good brands but it is the age old story in that you get what you pay for. I use Giottos tripod and head and find them more than capable of supporting the camera, power pack, flash and lens all adding up to a fair old weight.
If you look at this one below , this is similar to what I have the head will support 4kg and has spirit levels to help you get the shot right and is good value at a smidge over £80
(Giottos MTL9251B + MH5011 Head Tripod Kit)
This is the nearest equivalent for the Manfrotto stuff
Manfrotto Tripod Kit 190XDB & 804RC2 3 Way Photo Head
I don't think one is necesarily better than the other it just comes down to personal preference I suppose

Hi and thanks for your reply.
Funnily enough I've been looking at that man frotto set up. They do a compact head which takes a heavier load but I think he will find this one easier to control as he has some slight dexterity problems. They are doing a xmas kit and has a quick release as well at quite a saving. But I will check out the other one you mention.
Height wise do you think either are OK for 5ft 10"?? he has a bad back as well (we're a right pair!!) and stooping is not good.

Only talking from experiance my Giottos when fully extended is too high for me and I'm 5ft 9 so I wouldn't have thought your OH would have a problem with it as I haven't used the Manfrotto I couldn't comment but I am sure it will tell you in the spec the maximum height it extends to.
In terms of the quick release pretty much all of them should have the quick release mechanism as part of the spec as most photographers expect this as a feature.

I had a look at the giotto and to me it looks a better spec and is higher than the man frotto one. The 5yr warrantee was the clincher I think. They are also doing 2 kits for xmas and I went for kit 2, a bit dearer but not out of budget for a main present, mind you if he continues being lippy I might make him wait for his birthday.lol!
Thanks again. I was doing that silly dithering and needed some expert input. He uses the camera daily and has been moaning that the small table tripod is useless so hopefully I've got it right. His binoculars will fit it as well. The downside is I guess the tripod will be living right in front of the window!!! 😮
🙂 Merry Xmas to you and all.
