I would love to do a proper course as well as I don't use the camera to even half its capabilities. However dont want to do a basic course either. Hope it goes well for you because you are a great photographer and I reckon you will do really well :)

thx mary thats really kind of you, it has taken me 2 yrs to decide what I really want to do with my life since jacking in my old career. I feel more and more passionate about it everyday and I do think I have found my calling at long last:-D

why not try the course I did the other week it was a great confidence booster.

You have a great eye too but also the passion which is the most important thing

Do you mean with the birds of prey? If so, your course was t'up norf and I am darn south so will have to check out what there is in the local area. The answer would be to go to the camera club which is in the village I live in if only I could find the confidence to attend. :(

Oh sorry the bird of prey one or something you are interested in, there is one I am thinking of doing which is in the lakes doing landsacapes etc.

BTW I am looking at the D60 or if I can scrounge a few extra pennies i might go for the D90

I think if you are going to do professional work you may be better off with the D90. Just go into an independent shop and try them both out for size :)

Have decided on the D90 now:-D TBH there isn't a huge difference between my camera and the D60 to warrant the change. Had a quick look around and there are some good package details for the camera ranging around £800 to £1000.

Just need to gather the dosh up now

Mary, we bought our eldest son one of those cameras for his birthday last month.

Whilst it's obviously not going to be a patch on your Nikon it's still a really good little camera and he's taken some great shots on it.

It feels a little plasticky but has a nice weight to it.

I'd advise that you don't bother using the batteries that come with it as they ran out very quickly.

The only other downside is the smallish screen. Other than that it's an excellent camera that's easy to use. (our eldest is 8).:^O

I'd buy another at any rate.

mary I still use my Fuji Finepix f10 for 'point and shoot' photos and it's still great even though it's a few years old now. It also has a built in rechargeable battery that seems to last for ever. It has a setting for taking photos at night too. Not sure if you can still get that exact model but there is boound to be an equivalent model.

Thanks for the comments - I will definitely consider the Fuji as well as I have had them in the past and was very impressed. Need to hit the shops and have a look see :)

like brynteg, I use an old fuji for messing about with, its only 3.2 m pixels but its great. some of my best pics have been taken using that camera....ultra simple to use and come to think of it the batteries seem to last ages to. OH uses that camera mainly now as she doesn't like the complicated cameras
