Driving to London

If I drove to London from Wales along the M4 where would the best/safest/cheapest place be to leave the car outside London and go into the city on the train/underground? Thanks

Re: Driving to London

You could park outside my house, I could drive you to our local train station, 25/30 minute journey from there to Waterloo?

Re: Driving to London

My drive. Near Greenford Station, then into London on the Central Line or from South Greenford overland into Ealing Broadway for Central or District Line or stay on train straight into Paddington (7 stops)

Re: Driving to London

A few years ago we went to London from Bristol and parked at Osterley

Parking was £3.50 for the day then, but has since gone up

We parked the car, then bought all day tube tickets.

Far better than trying to drive round London.

Osterley is a London Underground station in Osterley in west London. The station is on the Heathrow branch of the Piccadilly Line, between Boston Manor and Hounslow East. The station is located on Great West Road (A4) close to the National Trust-owned Osterley Park. It is in Travelcard Zone 4. The daily parking fee is £4.50.

Re: Driving to London

We never drive into London although we go in a lot. From where we are transport is so good that we can get anywhere very easily (hence us not bothering to own a car)

Re: Driving to London

Thanks for your kind offers and suggestions. I was hoping to stay as close to the M4 as possible for a 'quick get away' on the way back so I was wondering about Slough train station.

Re: Driving to London

we're not far from the M4, if you're interested I'll message the address & you can check, but we're near the Greenford roundabout/flyover on the A40

Re: Driving to London

You'd be welcome to park round my way Brynteg, only it wouldn't be a qucik getaway as I'm

over the other side, on the edge of the greater London boundary (Upminster being nearest

station).  You'd have half the M25 to contend with before reaching the M4.

*Isn't helpful*

*but it's the thought that counts*

Re: Driving to London

We're closer than Slough. Very close to M25, a short dap from it to M4 (I travel to Wales regularly to see my folks - easy journey).

Sister and hubby have stayed at ours to get to concert gigs in London.

We're away for two weeks in Sept, tho'. You could still park here, but obviously I wouldn't be able to drive you to the station Man Tongue
