Drink driving/drink advertising

I cannot believe what I heard on the radio tonight whilst coming back from shopping (Capital FM).

Initially there was an advert about not drinking and driving...ie how you will loose your job, your car etc etc. No problems with that at all......BUT the advert immediately following this one was all about Liquid Envy in Leicester and how cheap their drinks are before 10pm. What a clanger!!! Personally I don't mind the drink driving adverts but I don't want to hear anything at all promoting alcohol. Our town centres are clogged at the weekend with binge drinkers. Personally I think that alcohol adverts should be banned (the same as cigarette adverts).

Don't know what views others have????

Remember - it takes 17 muscles to smile and 44 muscles to frown - SO KEEP SMILING 🙂

Nothing wrong with advertising clubs/bars and alcohol. They need to ban payday loans and bingo first

Yes, totally agree, ban all of those, drinking, cigarettes, loans and gambling adverts.  There are far too many people addicted to them already without advertising which only paints the rosy picture, not the sad outcome which is the case for so many who succumb.

are people REALLY that influenced by adverts?

would none of these adverts in the media reduce people drinking/smoking/DDing?

at christmas there is always the anti drink driving campaign

some have been pretty graphic

there is one just now, the man standing in the gents and the breaking mirror

they always make me go 😮

but they do that, to the wrong people

the people who never drink and drive

(i never ever drink at all)

i think the people who will binge drink/drink and drive/smoke/take out humongous loans they cant afford will, regardless of adverts

You may well be right Merlin, it's just that the less these things are rammed in the faces of the easily influenced impulsive people, the better.  They don't need any encouragement!

But yes, sensible, level-headed people don't fall for adverts, but it isn't usually those that get into trouble.
