I love it when dogs show their personalities like that.
Stan, the dog's toys must be tired after a hard day playing.

I had a dog which in the main ignored it's basket. It was an early riser. Everey morning I used to look out of the window at 5a.m. and there it would be asleep by the pond with the chicken for company. They always slept together. There was a very strong bond between them. The dog was at a total loss when "Clucker" had a stroke and died the next day. Mind you, it had a good run for it's money - 6 1/2 years, rescued from a battery farm as a month old pullet.so all it knew was total freedom.

How completely adorable Chicken Grandma. Look at wee Lottie, all curled up with her wee bott hanging out - she looks like the puppy. How old is she now? I could just eat that wee Molly. Lovely start to the day. Thank you.
How are you doing PCC Grandma? You worn out babysitting yet?

Lottie was ten last Thursday rainy. That photo was taken when we first got her at 5 weeks old!!! Yes, only five weeks. She was kept in a cupboard under the stairs and her mother had been taken away.

I did wonder! She's gorgeous. How did you come by her at only 5 weeks CG? I want a dog so badly, but it would be selfish I think.

Someone we knew came with Lottie's sister who they'd bought at only 4 weeks old!!!! and told us there was one left by itself. (If I'd gone and saw just two left I couldn't have come away with only one and left one!!) I sent hubby to buy it, whatever it was!! And it was Lottie!!
I did wonder when I got Molly, would I last another 15 or so years. Probably not, but anything can happen to anybody at any time, whatever their age. I think you should get one. You can both have so much fun and love, ok I'll say it....whatever happens! xx

I agree with CG Carol. Get a little rescue dog that needs your love as much as you need it back.:) There are so many older dogs that would love a home in their later years.

So cute when they are asleep, our two have taken to sleeping on the cold tiled kitchen floor the last couple of days because it is so warm, bit of a pain to step over but I don't blame them. Maybe I should do that.

Both of mine have taken to sleeping on the tiled kitchen floor too, but have a "thing" about doorways, Anya in the door leading to the hall and Sam in the door to the utility room. If they stay still it is easy enough to step (climb) over them, but both are liable to get up just as I am in mid climb. Sam is 90+kg and Anya 60+kg so it's no joke ending up astride them.

Wow they sound like whoppers Myra what make are they.
Mine are a shepherd/collie and a springer/collie, the big one is 35kg and the nutcase sorry little one is 20kg.
I think the doorway thing is that they can see what is going on all around and there is also a breeze. Mine are both lying in the doorway at the moment, one in the utility/kitchen doorway and one in the dinningroom/lounge doorway. The bigger one will stay put and let you walk over him but the young one jumps up if you go anywhere near her trouble is you never know which way she is going to jump. ha ha.

They are both Newfoundlands - rescues (recycled as I like to call them) Sam is coming up 9 years old now, is an absolute love but is now suffering from dementia! He has discoid lupus which makes his face, eyes and "bits" very sore but he never complains, he was just 3 when I took him. Anya has been here for a year now and is about 6 or 7, she has a blood clotting disorder (it doesn't clot) and is a little cutie, justy beginning to find her feet and becoming a little madam. I love them both to bits but am forever getting accidental injuries from them, Sam likes to "give five" but if your'e not ready for it then that's another black eye. Could go on forever about them!
