Deno (proper name De Novo) was adopted by FHG posters in 2005 when one of them, Shebalator, rescued him from slaughter.
Then - 700lbs underweight with a broken jaw and multiple other ills.
2008 - still struggling with sarcoids but finally fit enough to have a light rider up for the first time so he could
join his mates on a jaunt round the local lanes
2009 - due to sheb’s declining health, a new home was sought for Deno.
A very brave ebayer named upthecreekyetagain ( very apt name I think you will agree) agreed to take him on.
So, now Deno lives in Surrey with the Creeky family, plus 3 lovely mares. He has 5 acres of grass and orchards to roam in and is very happy.
His sarcoids still remain a problem, but a new vet is investigating them further to decide on the best course of palliative care.
Visits can be arranged, please contact Creeky for more info.
Deno is reliant on fundraising and donations for his food, medicines and all the things that make his world that bit nicer.

He was a lovely horse. He was field mate to one of mine
and they were great buddies.
Caring for him was heartbreaking but was happy to be
in a position to do it, my friend often worked away from
home.

deno is in fact 11 now,
mushed, if you haven't found his website yet,
he was found basically dieing in a field in cornwall,
beaten, starving, terrible injuries,
he was rescued by sheb, and we have all helped to get him better,
the sarcoids(horsey skin cancer) will prolly always be a problem for him,
they prolly happened because his condition was so bad that his immune system was failing badly.
but, with good food, and a reasonably healthy immune system now, they are kept at bay, sadly, they are likely to prove life shortening, as in charlie girl's freind's horse, (so sorry charlie, i lost my beautiful boy to gut lining cancer, broke my heart, he was the best horse in the world)
deno is a babe, actually, hes a mega babe, and i think what impresses most people, and tugs on thier heart so much is his indomitable spirit, and pure love of the human race, really he should hate all people, especially men ( it was a man who so nearly killed him, but unfortunately, for almost legal reasons i can't go into too much detail on here), but deno loves everyone,
but especially if you have carrits and polos.
the only thing he loves more is seeing how much worry he can cause his defenders, i wouldn't be surprised if his tail fell off!!! his talent for being a drama llama should win him an oscar!!!
ps, that is missy goth riding him in the second pic in the op, she was the very first person to ride him when we re backed him, she and deno have a bond that is un breakable, and it was a natural progression that she be the first one to ride him, an honour she cherishes.

It's just that at the moment there is a bit of a fundraising going on for him so it was uppermost in my mind.

Morning. Off to meet daughter for a couple of ours shopping. (charity shops) 😉 I hope everyone is well.:-D
Maggie... Did you watch 'Mary Queen of Shops' with Mary Portas? It was the last episode yesterday. They were working to make the 'Save the Children' charity shop turnover more money. It went from £900 per week to £2,000 but it was a long, hard slog and it wasn't easy to achieve.
Anyway, it was a really good programme and when you mentioned charity shops, it reminded me! Enjoy your shopping and bargain hunting! :-D

I finished saving the old thread last night. The gasbagging that went on! 😄
It was lovely to revisit bits - like his quicksand adventure and when Sheb had to rub baby oil on certain of his parts :^O
I also realised I don't have to feel sad any more that I was too ill to keep a diary of Smallest's first months as there is quite a bit on that thread. There is quite a lot of many of our lives on there actually......brings it home how Deno has been as much a help to us as the other way round.
Mr elph is going to take small wrecking machine out for a couple of hours later so I can get photographing and start turbo listing in preparation for the big MDCC Deno push :)
