Deno's Diary Part 3, A new Chapter

Deno (proper name De Novo) was adopted by FHG posters in 2005 when one of them, Shebalator, rescued him from slaughter.

Then - 700lbs underweight with a broken jaw and multiple other ills.




2008 - still struggling with sarcoids but finally fit enough to have a light rider up for the first time so he could
join his mates on a jaunt round the local lanes



2009 - due to sheb’s declining health, a new home was sought for Deno.
A very brave ebayer named upthecreekyetagain ( very apt name I think you will agree) agreed to take him on.
So, now Deno lives in Surrey with the Creeky family, plus 3 lovely mares. He has 5 acres of grass and orchards to roam in and is very happy.



His sarcoids still remain a problem, but a new vet is investigating them further to decide on the best course of palliative care.

Deno is reliant on fundraising and donations for his food, medicines and all the things that make his world that bit nicer.

And to mark the start of the next chapter of his life.

Morning all 🙂  Yukky rain here yet again, where has the summer gone to???

Very much hoping to make it down to the Meet this year, fingers and everything else crossed that they don't whizz me through the waiting list too quickly for the hip operation :^O

Also received the email from Moz, but wouldn't really call it off-putting Geranne? More a simple list of what I would call common sense curtesies really.

Can't wait to see how much Lulu has grown, can hardly believe a year has flown by already!

Well, Welshtoff, I did find it off-putting because I have been communicating directly with Creeky.  I don't expect a Moz message in my in-box and I don't welcome them at all.

Liz - it sounds like you are not going to the meet-up.  I'll have to get my sat-nav sorted and see if I can bring Ringo to visit you and then go on to the meet-up.  I am not sure how much I can manage to be honest (and everything is so tentative). I am not a social person at the best of times these days - I just live a life that is me and Ringo.  I am very insular since being widowed 10 years ago.

But I do try to make an effort.  And I will make a considerable effort in August.  Ringo is great in his travel cage - I just have to work out all his stops for me to top-up his water.  He pants and yaps so much that he can drink 2 litres of water on a 150 mile journey.  If I can work out a play space for him, I can usually burn off his energy and then he will snooze in his travel cage (no panting that way!)

Mind you, when Ringo is very, very, quiet in the back of the car (in his travel cage) I end up 'poking him' as I drive along a motorway to make sure he is still breathing!  :^O  He can't win can he?

I have noticed that he is quieter when we have 'go faster stripes' on the car.  He settles as soon as I do a steady 70 miles an hour - he is not happy when I coast at 55 miles an hour and have to keep pulling out to over-take.

We'll do the middle lane to creekyland methinks!

Got very unexpected mail from Mozart - what a strict missive!  Enough to put me off even thinking about coming!

I asked her to email for me - basically to say that unlike last year I would not be expecting contributions towards the cost of food etc but that I would supply these.

In return I ask that anyone who does come pitches in with helping with some of the chores such as washing up, clearing away etc.

I also asked her to mention keeping any dogs under control, not for the horses sake as much as for the dogs 😮

Having seen first hand the damage a horse's kick can do to a dog I thought it would be wise to mention this.

I'm sorry if any of this has put you off coming but I don't really know what else to say 😞

Anne, as those who've met me know, I'm also not a social group person but do want to meet Ringo and will come to the meet if I know you're going and when you'll be there 🙂

Although of course you're welcome to come over to Chaldon dependant on your time & plans etc 🙂

I *may* pop down creeky if that is OK?  We were planning a weekend down South to catch up with old friends and already emailed Liz about the potential to pop in there, so maybe we can the horses at the same time, the kids would love to see them.

We were looking at a different weekend, but can see if our plans with friends can be re-arranged to make a visit

Owner died and was police were on the way to kennels with dog but right place, right time and he's here 🙂

Little Pomeranian but at some stage he's had a dislocated shoulder that has set in the wrong place so sticks out at an angle but also has arthritis in it so on painkillers and much happier 🙂

Made himself very at home, is a dear little chap :-x

Have I missed much-is there a meet going on somewhere-did I miss it?

Sorry not been peering in lately-my Dad has Prostate cancer and not doing so good(Im nursing him at home as the stubborn ol bugger doesnt like hospitals!)Robdog has been diagnosed with Cauda Equine Syndrome,and with all the stress I dumped my bloke(he wasnt helping and I need support not hassle)

Hoping everyone else is ok,Im still smiling,I have a good family helping me and my Dad likes my cooking so thats a relief!!
