Deno's Diary Part 3, A new Chapter

Deno (proper name De Novo) was adopted by FHG posters in 2005 when one of them, Shebalator, rescued him from slaughter.

Then - 700lbs underweight with a broken jaw and multiple other ills.




2008 - still struggling with sarcoids but finally fit enough to have a light rider up for the first time so he could
join his mates on a jaunt round the local lanes



2009 - due to sheb’s declining health, a new home was sought for Deno.
A very brave ebayer named upthecreekyetagain ( very apt name I think you will agree) agreed to take him on.
So, now Deno lives in Surrey with the Creeky family, plus 3 lovely mares. He has 5 acres of grass and orchards to roam in and is very happy.



His sarcoids still remain a problem, but a new vet is investigating them further to decide on the best course of palliative care.

Deno is reliant on fundraising and donations for his food, medicines and all the things that make his world that bit nicer.

stable is all mended,  fer now until someone decides it needs rearanging again.   rolls eyes.

i know some of you dont know hence the reason i am adding this.


if you visit frank and the horses, please do not offer lulu any treats, especually hand feeding her.

She is a very norty foal (stroppy teenage years)that will bite and kick not only the giver to try and force you to give more but anyone that goes in with her later to an effort to get more.

the other horses are fine and lulu is allowed a small one providing shes not hand fed and the treat is put on the ground.

deno is ever the gentleman and posh the lady but lulu is one very norty girl.     X-(

😞 Swampy, seems a bad time at the moment.

I lost a friend on tuesday afternoon, he was 43 and had a slow brain bleed, he never knew and wouldnt have suffered.

So I wonder who trashed the stables, those osses are so well behaved NOT!!!

last time i was there,  so far well behaved.   frank is still flat out doing this pub which i might add is looking very good.   floor i suspect is probabaly done now.  all sanded and varnished. 

i suspect the horses decided that the pub was their new stables and thats why the stables got trashed.

Reason being is because one of the little darlings came up the steps and tried to get in.   😮  

probabaly wanted to poop on the floor.

Well I cant blame Deno for his drink problem, he cant tell if its apple juice or cider.  I didnt know about the pub, I say every year I want to come and see Deno but work/life/confidence stops me, would love to get a photo of Georgia with him, She was under 3 when she last sat on him ( he was a good boy back then LOL). She is 10 next month and I swear Deno and Boomer gave her the riding bug!

How are we all? - Kerknackered 😮

The holiday seems a long time ago.

Deno has been a real worry over the last few months, we have had to have the vet out on a number of occasions.

He has had an infection in his foot going back to an incidence of mud fever last winter.

He's been on anti-biotics three times this year and it looks as though we have finally got rid of all infection.

He's lost quite a bit of weight and is being exercised regularly as well as being given "weight gain" feed to try and build up his muscle.

On the good side his sarcoids are doing remarkably well, a number have totally gone following regular treatment with acyclovir - this is expensive as it has to be applied twice daily for at least three months and comes in 5gm tubes at £7 a tube - treating just 2 sarcoids at a time means we get through one tube a day 😮

The front wall of the stable has been rebuilt which means that both are available to the gang - why can't they manage to keep at least one clean 😞

Megan and Holly, the two young girls who come down at least twice a week, do a magic job of cleaning up and have got the two Welsh gits into really good condition.  They also take Posh and Deno out for a hack on Sundays.

Lulu has got a chipped bone on her jaw, the result of an altercation with one of the Welsh gits, which has resulted in a hard swelling which the vet seems confident will slowly go.

We've found a really good source of hay locally at £20 for the large round bales, delivered.

On a final note, Freddie the farrier is due on Monday between 10 and 11 B-)

Really, really cold tonight, Deno et al wrapped up in their winter coats with lots of hay to eat.

Corrie and I are just sitting down with sausage sandwiches trying to warm up brrrrrrr!

I agree, it a very cold night, helped rug mates 3 horses, turned them out with another mates 3 so they can go loco together at the  fireworks

Just a very quick hello to everyone. I am staying at my Mums for a few weeks, and her internet is very sporadic!  I have some lovely items up for auction for teh Deno & Posh funds for karrits & polos, if anyone would care to have a peek 🙂
