PhotobucketNo you ca'nt charge the Council,But if you are nice they might give you one for waste food as well

As for the green wheelie it's for waste garden stuff to save you haveing a smelly compost heap or a fire

they may evan give you free a bin for crit for when it snows

Re: DOES ANYBODY KNOW?

No you can't charge them, they see it as providing a service and you are paying for that through the council tax.

At least you only have one, at my parents' old house they had 3, one for general rubbish, one for recycling and one for garden waste!!

Re: DOES ANYBODY KNOW?

What do you do with your rubbish now? I have a big green bin which is for general rubbish. A green box for glass & plastic, green bag for paper & a smaller brown bin for food waste. For garden waste we have to buy big paper sacks but I take mine to the tip. I think it's great to have our rubbish disposed of in an environmental way. My green bin has to live in the front but it's not a problem as long as I keep it clean. Dorset has an excellent record for recycling & I am proud of that.

Re: DOES ANYBODY KNOW?

((((wheelie bins))))

We love them.  We keep them at the edge of the drive(we are lucky to have the room).  The local litter bugs stick their takeaway wraps and beer cans in  the appropriate bins as they pass.  Prefiously they used the local hedges!.  We have had about 3/4 less casual litter and no bags torn open by foxes or cats because the householder had to put bags out before the bin men arrived(due to workm school etc).  They may be ugly but so was the  bin bag storage.  Build a little fenced area to put them in and trail a plant round it.

As to green waste - well first off it was free but the bag blew away.  Second off they charged for the bags but why buy when the bags blow away(after they are left empty in the drive by the binmen).   Now think it is 50 a year and buy your own bags!.  We do not have garden waste!

Re: DOES ANYBODY KNOW?

there are ways and means of disguising wheelie bins,  you  just need to work out which way will wotk best for you

some hide beside garages and walls

others erect willow screens to  hide them

Re: DOES ANYBODY KNOW?

Over here it is green coloured bin for landfill, black coloured bin for cardboard, coloured paper and all ( yes, all ) plastics.  Plus we have a green box for glass and metal recycling and we put the newspapers and white paper out in large carrier bags.

Landfill bin gets hardly anything in it these days; I think the last time it was out was 3 months ago and it's only ½ full so far since.  On the other hand we had to ask for a bigger vlack bin last month because we couldn't get everything in it each time!

Foil is recycled too; I take a carrier bag full of it to the tip every now and again.

Batteries - plenty of recycling points available.

Re: DOES ANYBODY KNOW?

Here, green bin is for garden and food waste, black bin is for household rubbish,  small green box is for glass and plastic, brown bag for cardboard (not big enough) and green bag for paper and clothing. big bins are collected every other week, and small box and bags weekly.

Our black bin usually goes out less than half full, sadly it is mostly things like yoghurt cartons and marg containers, ice cream containers, because these are not recycled here, We have been doing this for years now and it is second nature to us, luckily we have somewhere to put these bins down the side of the drive way so they are not in the way.

Re: DOES ANYBODY KNOW?

This year they have stopped giving us black and green bags.

they want us to pay £35.00 for a green bin, which would be delivered this month,

then you have to buy black bags for waste, untill august 2015,that is when the other two bins shall be delivered.

they stopped the last collection for green waste on the 20th nov,now someone has dumped 9 green bags at the end of the drive.

i can see a lot of this is going to go on,because people will not buy the bins, and they will not take their waste to be recycled.

the bins are microchipped.

you can also buy green plastic bags if you have no room for a bin,and they are stamped with 2014 on them.

Mckay said the reason for buying the bins is to keep the enviroment clean, what a laught, its not come into effect yet,and people are already dumping their waste.

ALL this is,is another stealth TAX by labour, some things never change.
