Does anyone know whether it's possible to get clear adhesive wall
hangers, like the flat ones sometimes used to hang plates up, and,
if so, where from please?
They need to be quite small, as the things I have to hang are only
an inch or so wide. They are my fused glass miniature scenes but,
because the glass is transparent, a normal hanger would show through.
So it would need to stick to the back of the glass mini-scene (which is
flat) and have a hangy bit on to hang it up by, oh and be quite small.
Any assistance gratefully appreciated.
I have drilled holes in some of them, with a glass drill, but for some reason
with the ones I've made recently the drill bit won't go through the glass -
something to do with the fusing temperature the teacher reckons. Also,
the holes become expensive to drill as the drill bits don't last very long
and are costly.
Thanks,
Fishy

Sadly not Stan, the disc ones are not clear so could be seen through the glass
and the other two are both too big.
I didn't realise it was going to be such a job hanging them up! As I say I usually
drill two teeny holes in the top of them and thread wire through to hang them up
by, but these latest ones just won't drill.
Maybe I'll have to use them as paperweights instead.
They are about 3cm by 9cm, give or take a bit, and part of them is transparent
coloured glass. If I can get a photo on here (a task which seems increasingly
difficult every time I try to do it), I will.

fishie...I suppose they would be too heavy for transparent double-sided tape ?

Well Merc, that's an idea. My Hubby makes double sided tapes but if I can find an extra-sticky one it might do the trick. I'll see what he's got hanging about at work.

Right, I'll try and put a picture on now ......

Crikey, that worked, apart from them being the wrong way up.
The three little ones don't need a hanger as I'm going to attach
them to something then hang that up by whatever the attachment
is.
The little one on its side needs a hangy thing to attach to the back
of the blue bit at the top.
Hopefully this makes sense.
The other ones (still being fired) are like the second one.

Those look so unusual fishy, so tactile, I just want to have one in my hand and 'stroke' it!:^O
I suppose it would spoil the transparent effect if you stuck them to a wooden plaque and hung that on the wall. What about sticking a little 'leg' on the back and have them standing on a shelf? I'd want them somewhere where I could keep picking them up and feeling them.:-D

Pleeeeease MDCC some...I love the fishies & the bottom one - wow !

could you glue some kind of eyelet type connector to them?i
23-05-2013 3:50 PM
Oh thank you, I would be honoured to make some for MDCC.
The fishy one goes with the other two, it's supposed to be sky, on the sea
and under the sea and I'm thinking of attaching them to some kind of bit of
wood washed by the sea, if I can find a suitable bit.
CG, they are very tactile, it's what they call a tack fuse, where the glass fuses together
but not completely melts, and they do feel good. That's a brilliant idea, I could stand
them on those little miniature plastic stands that they use for bits of rock etc, then
they can be picked up and touched. Hoorah, you are so clever CG!
Captain, I'm not sure I can do a cow, but I'll give it a go.
I'll do some for MDCC but give me a little while as they have to be part done one
week and fused, then the little bits stuck on and fused again, but I'll see if I can
start some in half term.
I'm quite touched that people think they're any good to be honest, though they are
great fun to make and that's the most important thing!

Well done Fishie - wonderful makes, aren't you clever 🙂

Oh dear, I don't want to be responsible for war!
I'd better get to work so there are enough for everyone.
Golly gosh, I've got ideas popping in and out of my head now (don't think about
that image LOL!)

I am not really creative, but in the past when I have struggled finding plate hangers, I have glued either contrasting or the same colour ribbon on the full length of the item and made a bow or similar for the top and bottom of the ribbon
hope this might be of some use to you, as they are really beautiful

Oh that's a good idea too Goldenangelanimal, thank you. I know I could rely on you lot for
some good ideas!

I used to hang plates on the wall..... but the beans made an awful mess of the wallpaper.....
love the crafty stuff fishie..
