Clean Cups

Has anyone got a cheap method for getting the Brown Stains that you get in Mugs or Teacups out???. I used to use Sterident tablets that you use for cleaning dentures. But you used to be able to get Chemro tea to clean it in the 70s,,,,probably not around any more!!.

Any advice oh wise people?.

Re: Clean Cups

I use one of those small metal scrub thingys, it doesn't scratch, just wizz it around the inside and bingo. OH drinks tea all the time and makes a right mess of his mugs

Re: Clean Cups

Asda own brand milton.  Dilute into one cup, when clean pour into next and so on, wash as normal and bingo.  Cheap and easy and effortless

Re: Clean Cups

Any brand of sterilising fluid or tablets made for sterilising baby's bottles etc - usually whatever the pound shop is selling.

Solved the problem by buying dark coloured mugs - stains don't show.

Re: Clean Cups

Don't drink tea, then you don't get stains in your cups!  Actually it makes you wonder

what it does to your insides if it does that to your cups doesn't it?

I don't get stains as I don't drink tea but at work we use bleach to get them off, same

as what we clean the sink with.  Have to give them a good wash afterwards though.

Re: Clean Cups

Well... I rarely get tea stains - in fact it only seems to happen when the inlaws are here!

How do you make your tea? I am a strict milk in first person 🙂

I think this affects stainage! If you are usually a milk after person, try the other way and see if it improves.

My dishwasher cleans cups properly, so I probably bleach a cup less than once a month.

Re: Clean Cups

I always use a scourer too when it comes to this myself...the dark green scourer-esque side of a small square sponge also helps 🙂

Re: Clean Cups

My cups don't seem to get stained, for some reason. We live in a very hard water area, and Mr Pix drinks a LOT of tea, so would expect to! Maybe the dishwasher gets rid of it. Before the dishwasher (living elsewhere) I did use a mild solution of bleach or sterilising product to get rid of any stains, or a scrubby sponge, as others have suggested.
