Hi Merlin - you may remember you put some pics of your latch hook rug on and I said I would have a go at doing one.
Well I have finished it apart from binding it, so thought I would post a pic.
Sorry to be showing something Christmassy in February but I chose to do a Christmas one because I thought it would take me all year to finish it LOL!!!
I have never been into any form of "crafting" but you were right this was easy to do, it must have been because I managed it.
Thanks for suggesting it
xx

Thanks Patch and Merlin 🙂
I am quite chuffed with it, looking at the photo I noticed that it looked as if I had put some colours in the wrong place but I have just checked the rug and it is just the way the wool is laying (phew).
I "latched" on to your pun straight away Merlin :
I will definitely have another go - I quite enjoyed doing it - thanks again xx

Hi Fluffy nice to see you, how are you? I love the rug and what a great start you have made 1st one down is the worst;)
Merlin I love your T shirt one, it looks so soft. Nice colour scheme too. My friend (84) has made one from swimming costumes for her bathroom, thats really pretty.

Well done Fluffy. You are clever.

Now all youv'e got to do is make some for MDCC

Thanks everyone for all your nice comments - my OH said surely you're not going to let anybody wipe their feet on it! He said it should sit in front of the fire at Christmas.
.
Merlin - the rag rug looks good - what are you using to push the fabric through - presumably it is not a latch hook. Is it a different canvas as well or the same as the latch hook ones?
You never know I may give that a go next
xx

same canvas, same hook
i cut the t shirt into strips, around half to 3/4" wide and around 3" long
done exactly the same way
the t shirt stretches nicely
you end up with a VERY heavy rug

I'd do as hubby suggests fluffy, I wouldn't want anyone walking on it either! You know those little signs that say 'Keep off the grass' You should get one!

Ooh now I am tempted to have a go - got loads of T shirts I can use - I was about to have a sort out of all OH's old T shirts and get rid of them, now I can see a purpose for them all
06-02-2014 9:15 PM
Chickengrandma - maybe I could do a rag rug that says keep off the other rug!
06-02-2014 9:18 PM
Merlin - the new one you are making looks so thick and soft - have you got a bigger overall picture?
06-02-2014 9:28 PM
i havent
its just a big rectangle
with a heart in the middle
i made one before that was a heart shape for my daughters bedroom
its about 15 years old now
its been in the washing machine many times
takes an age to dry
give it a good shake and its as good as new
still looks the same as the day i made it
and that has had plenty use, walked on etc
they are very durable, and very warm (especially when you are working on them )

Ooo that Snowman rug is lovely clever you
Merlin I love yours too but really ..... you cut t shirts up for it! .... don't you get blisters from all the cutting
Its really effective though, in fact I'd love to have ago at either kind but someone else would have to do the cutting
