Broken Toe

At around 7.45, I banged my left foot on my bedside cabinet and I've broken the toe next to the little on that foot.  I've been to the walk-in centre and the said toe is broken and rather painful.  Two of my toes are now strapped up together.  I did a slight dance when it happened and just said oh heck!!

Re: Broken Toe

Thanks Towery.  At least I've got until the 21st September for it to get better and we are only at the beginning of August aren't we?  It is feeling a little bit better today so that can't be too bad.

Re: Broken Toe

Thanks Rose.  My toe is still sore but not quite as bad but the bruising has come out a bit now.  It'll get better eventually.  Never mind.  Thanks again Rose.

Re: Broken Toe

Ouch poor you 😞

If you need a cover over you tonight, do you have a small stool?  If so, pop that in the bed then you can slip your foot under it thus keeping the covvers off your poorly foot

Alternatively a cardboard box on its side could do the trick

I have done both those successfully after having 'Oh bother' (!!!!) type accidents

Re: Broken Toe

I've had problems with feet and ankles in the past and I'm a dab hand at having one of my legs hanging out of the bed.  I've also done the box in the bed with foot in said box as well.  That was when I originally had my right ankle removed and my foot fused to my leg and  I had metal work sticking out all ways.  Honestly, talk about being the best advert for a walking (or hobbling) wreck, I am brilliant at that I can tell you.

Re: Broken Toe

Hi CB.  It does feel a little better today even though the swelling is still there and the bruising is coming out a bit.  Thankfully, I don't think the foot will fall off.

Re: Broken Toe

What actually happened was that I broke my right ankle very badly nearly 30 years ago.  Five years after that, I was diagnosed with seriously bad arthritis in that ankle.  It got so bad, that I had to have the said ankle joint removed.  That was in June 1994.  I had four pins going through my ankle which were held in place by clamps.  In March 1995, the fusion came apart and I could have lost my foot.  Thankfully, I didn't but in May 1995, I had bone taken from the right side my pelvis and that was grafted into where my ankle was and it is still held together with a couple of screws. Altogether, I was in the operating theatre for about six hours and I spent about ten days in hospital.  I am now having problems with it again.  I've got an appointment with our GP on Friday and I'll have to mention it to him.
