Bra sizes

Strange subject I know! Yesterday I went into town to be measured, please don't laugh as I was either getting lost or falling out of my bras, & I was amazed how different my size was to what I've been wearing. Another thing I didn't know was that a normal every day bra & a more risqué one are different in size to what you would think, conclusion, yes it was an expensive trip out but well worth it.
I recommend going for a measure you'll be surprised ,lol. Feeling quite perky now.lol.

Re: Bra sizes

Oooh Sam I too broke my pelvis when I was young (16) and can't bear anything restrictive either.  I once wore those 'magic pants' to a flash do and they went in the bin half way through.  When it comes to childbirth **Sam now rofl** listen to your auntie, insist on a section, which I did not.  If you want details, I'll have to PM you.

Re: Bra sizes

I'm never going to be in that position now, but I was advised if I ever was to have a c section , I'm lucky apart from an odd twinge I have no after effects & that's only if I've sat too long but I can usually walk it off, do you have any after effects ?

Re: Bra sizes

My son was 'made' in New Zealand, but born here.   I came home 6 months pregnant, didn't see a doctor until I was 8 months pregnant (we were doing up a house, story of my life), my medical records were still in the city where where I was born, so they had no knowledge of the broken pelvis.  Stoopid me never gave it a second thought.  I had a great pregnancy, I never looked or felt better and I was hooooge for a tiny thing, my normal weight was only 8 st ish.  I was soooo blase.  Silly woman.

Not a hugely long labour, 13 hours, but it was my back that gave out.  Slipped discs, so painful I used to faint. Had to use a tripod stick to get around.   Not great with a wee new baby.  Long story short, Pilates and yoga, some massage, but even now I have to be careful and yes I get twinges - sometimes even 'ouch' ones.  They should just shoot me.  That's how I know all about pain relief.  I was on Pethidine for years, and in hospital on morphine a few times.

That's why I am so ticked off to have 'this' because I have done the yoga and Pilates stretching religiously all my life, didn't sit in front of the telly drinking Irn Bru and Pringles, lol.  Looked after myself, and for what?  Life is very strange.

Re: Bra sizes

Whoa! That's awful ! I've never had that problem but then again I haven't given birth, if you consider the fact the pelvic bones have to stretch & widen so that you can give birth you can see why you suffered so much. Ooooh it makes me cringe to think about it. You are one brave lady ,you have my respect!. Sandra.x

Re: Bra sizes

You, with your background, will understand that the discs gave because the pelvis could not expand as it should.

Funny part - my bosoms were - wait for it - 44DD - not a stretch mark.  I still have the bra in the loft somewhere.  There were poor girls behind screens weeping because their milk hadn't come in.  It was pouring out of me - I was filling bottles for the ward.Woman LOL  My own son was so noise and so greedy - they took him out of the nursery and put him in the linen cupboard so the other babies could sleep.

I know we're off thread now, well it's still partly about bras so I'll shurrup.  Thanks Sam x.

Re: Bra sizes

Yes that's right & that's why you should have had early on advice, but it's easy to be wise after the event, I'm amazed & in awe that you gave birth naturally at all. Well done you!. & to be able to feed your own baby & by the sounds of it everyone else's as well. lol. No it's not off topic it's about bosoms so anything to do with bosoms is ok by me. How did you break your pelvis & did you bleed out & also how long were you recovering from the break?

Re: Bra sizes

I was about 11 hours in when the consultant suggested a section - I sat bolt upright and said 'no'!  Maybe I was wrong but I reckon the damage was done by then.  The whole thing was a farce, hottest night of the year (31st Aug) and I had to have all the windows shut 'cos I had hysterics when the moths came in.

I'm lying there in all my glory, lega akimbo and this voice said 'are you Carol X' and when I confirmed she told me her name and had sat behind me in Secondary School.  She was Head Midwife and looked at my notes and said - have an epuidural if you're not going to give into a section, which I did.

Having given birth I asked for a drink of cold water - no cold water - temporarily switched off due to works and - this is totally true - from behind a tarpaulin at the end of the room came a male voice (one of the builders) - 'I've got some Irn Bru Hen if you'd like that' - which I accepted gratefully.  Two of them came to see me with a big bouquet of flowers because I was on my own (husband offshore, best friend fainted when they broke my waters - sent home in a taxi).  I look back now and laugh and it was a good story to tell at the time.

I broke my pelvis, and much more, when I was hit by a car - up in the air hit the ground and bounced.  As an adult what peeved me most was the loss of some of my teeth (back ones) because my jaws were broken.  I had saved for yonks and had the appointments for my new 'American teeth' when I received my diagnosis, so I thought s*d that and spent it on my house and my garden.  How did you break yours?  Very painful, isn't it?  I remember the day the physio came and I had to get out of bed, nightmare.

Re: Bra sizes

JHC, that's some story but with a nice touch although I think I'd need something rather stronger than iron brew, you were very lucky to have survived at all after that smack , which just goes to prove what trauma the human body can take, but not a lot of consolation is it?
Mine was a riding accident, the horse I was riding reared & instead of going out the side door I hung on, & he went over with me still astride, I got away lightly considering he could have caused internal injuries, but I was out of action for quite sometime, a friend of mine had the same accident the following year nearly a carbon copy of mine & died so I count myself lucky indeed. It didn't stop me riding though. lol. You have a great outlook on life & your picture shows even though your still fighting I'll health & I'm sure you feel why me!
That you are great fun & may I say a very attractive classy lady . I wish you all the joy & happiness in the future & don't lose that spirit.

Re: Bra sizes

Oh my goodness, I am pulling faces just reading your posts, saasher and rainy: I can't imagine how agonising it would be to break your pelvis (never mind giving birth after - actually, never mind giving birth!) - those both sound like horrible accidents, and we're lucky to still have you both. ( I was guessing that saasher had been sat on by a cow at work...) I'm amazed both by how much damage a human body can withstand, as well as how much damage you can do with something quite innocuous: I mean, I see how being hit by a car would have a really devastating effect on a pedestrian, because of the force and mechanics etc involved - but I had a friend who went out the side door on a horse from a walk (somehow) and ended up in a sitting position with legs out in front. He broke his back, and although he learned to walk again, it was far from certain he's ever be able to. All that said, though, we are so lucky in this country with the NHS: I know it doesn't always work perfectly, but they are helping people survive more and more injuries than ever, which, at one time, would have been unsurvivable, and no-one in this country ever lost their home because they had the misfortune to be in an accident and had a medical bill of hundreds of thousands to pay as a result. Mind you - to get back to boobs: I am not sure about breast enhancements on the NHS because you want a career as a glamour model 😄

Re: Bra sizes

lol. I loved that post it made me laugh, as to the NHS & boob jobs yes I agree they are good but are now so over stretched it's amazing to me anyone gets help ,but they do & my hats off to them, I giggled when I went for my sizing because I was larger than I thought though not over endowed plenty enough to fill a D cup, I was feeling rather proud until a lady came in & asked for a DD cup then I felt rather deflated as I said before, I'm lucky I can buy pretty underwear because of my size but Rose is right they don't seem to cater for the larger bosomed ladies & that's a shame every woman has the right to feel good inside & out comfort is fine but with the fashion for low cut tops & dresses they should also combine support comfort & pretty as well. IMO. By the way I've never touch wood had a cow sit on me up to now but there's still time, although I've often had one nearly fall on me from height, (most of my experiences nowadays are with dead ones. Lol.)

Re: Bra sizes

OMG you two remarkable ladies are so lucky to be here to tell the tale .   Women are certainly the stronger sex most men would never cope with what some women have to deal with.   Plus a good sense of humour is vital to survive some things life throws at us

Back to bras ,  i had a drawer full of uncomfortable bras so went to get measured  & found i'd been wearing the wrong size most of my life .    I thought i was a 36Cin fact i am a 38DD 😮 so at only 5' 2" a bit of a dolly parton ,  see i dont fall over cos ive had one to many after all LOL

My advice is go & get your boobies measured 🙂
