How many are getting excited about the New bake Off programme on Wednesday?. Promoted to BBC 1 no less. I wonder what Mr Hollywood will be up too with Mary this year. I like it and i think Mel and Sue are entertaining presenters!!!. It just gets the old taste buds going and with me it does not take much!!. LOL. Very good programme,, i shall be tuning in

Admits to not being keen on Paul Hollywood. I'd never thought of putting his face in one of the cakes though. Good idea that CB.

MAGGIE,,,,im with you,he is quite nice but i think Mr Hollywood knows it too!!!!!!!!!!!!. He can stir my batter if hes a good boy but i dont think he can be good!!!!!!!!!!!.
Lovely Swiss Rolls,,,i like the ideas of Flavours. The Lemon one was nice. I thought Claire looked such a fun girl and then they made her go awwwww. She was a bit off with her cake technique though.
HEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Whats with the Black LAMB they kept showing out in the rain??????. I got quite upset i wanted to go and pick him up and take him or her back to their mum!!!!!!!!!!!!. Bless its little Cloven HOOVES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

I recorded the bake off as I was out. I think Paul LOOKS quite nice and he has a certain something, but I'm afraid I went off him when he did the dirty on his wife, so handsome is as handsome does as far as I'm concerned, so his spoon would come nowhere near my batter!

just watched the bake off and really enjoyed it..right person went hjom e.
P.S paul can come and ice my buns anyday

i thought their ideas of the cherry cake were varied to say the least
i think Paul too much the pro baker sometimes, i can see he view everything from a business level
but thats the business he was brought up in
so 36 small cakes have to look all the same
he can be suprised by some of the flavour combos working well

but i still never learnt how to make cherries and currants float...
08-08-2014 10:42 PM
i think you have to coat them in flour to stop their slide through the mixture

Glace cherries should be washed and dried to remove the syrup.
All fruit should be coated with flour before being added to the cake.
Make sure that the cake mixture is fairly stiff - if the cake mix is too runny nothing will stay at the top.
keep a small amount of flour coated fruit back, fill the tin, then sprinkle the reserved fruit on the top, just press very lightly into the cake mixture with the back of a spoon.

I was very glad to see they hadn't changed the format, as often happens when they move from BBC2 to BBC1
Loved last night's show with Jo Brand too, great to see a few behind the scenes moments.

As the poster above mentioned,, i too watched The Extra Slice. I do love Jo Brand as shes somewhat dry in her humour and a lovely lady!. I think Claire was actually wasted on the bake Off,,she should be a comedian. I knew she would be a laugh bless her!. LOL,,,Mary likes her Nuts!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

Hello all,
I haven't posted for a long while with pics of any of my cakes, but I have a great one here, not mine but done by my daughter this weekend.
She is, I think getting better than me. I reckon she would go a long way on the Bake off xxxx
I have to say though, I don't watch it myself, so am I missing something special? xxxx
