Yes I needed a tissue at the end. I does seem to be well edited bits of peoples home videos. I do hope it is. That little boys excitement was real & the bit at the end was very poignant.

I just saw the end part on TV Maggie, so it is in fact a real advert. Makes you sniff a bit doesn't it.

Yes i know it's a real advert but was hoping it used real peoples video clips rather than actors.

They have boobed a bit according to today's paper as you can see Co-Op groceries on the side in some of the shots!

Perhaps it's a mixture Maggie, some don't seem like actors (they may be so good as actors they look like amateurs!) but I'm sure the little boy with the really white hair in a pudding basin cut is in Coronation street.

I watched it and sat there thinking oh another advert to get fed up with and then the bit at the end, wow big lump in throat.
Bit like the rememberance service on Saturday night when the little girl in the choirs daddy turned up wonderful and her face when she shouted daddy.

It is real people.
The Sainsbury’s commercial, screened for the first time this week, is a new take on traditional Christmas adverts.
It forms part of a trailer for Christmas In A Day, a film by Oscar winner Kevin Macdonald made from more than 360 hours of footage submitted by people from across Britain.
‘It seems that our Truly Irresistible Christmas pudding, lemon torte and Christmas cake are so good even Sainsbury’s can’t resist advertising them,’ said a Co-operative spokeswoman.
‘We’re delighted that our delicious Christmas food products have made it into their ad. It certainly gave us a chuckle when we spotted them.’
Sainsbury’s described its Christmas advertising campaign as ‘truly groundbreaking and extraordinary’.
The chain added: ‘The film was made subject to only one condition: that it should comprise real footage filmed by real people.
‘The footage is authentic as the project could not have worked otherwise. The trailers we’ve launched as part of our Christmas TV campaign are a faithful representation of Kevin’s film.’

Just found this.
Christmas in a Day will debut on YouTube on Nov 29 and the 50-minute film is compiled from more than 360 hours of festive footage shot on Dec 25, 2012 by 114 families throughout Britain.
