Anyone used TV screen cleaning wipes?

My flat screen is filthy.
Had a look on google and there are special sprays and solutions to use, however at PC world they sell TV wipes.  Just wondered if they were any good.  I don't want to ruin my TV

Re: Anyone used TV screen cleaning wipes?

I've used wet wipes on TV and lappy screen.  I can't see it doing any harm as long as you don't scratch it.

TIP!  Don't use a Brillo pad.;-)

Re: Anyone used TV screen cleaning wipes?

'Can someone explain the difference between cleaning an LCD & an LED screen? How can you tell which is which?' -

They are essentially the same. It's just the difference the way the screen is illuminated from behind: Older (and cheaper) LCD screens use fluorescent tubes to illuminate the coloured LCDs that make-up the picture.

Some newer (and more expensive) 'LED' TVs use Light-Emitting Diodes (LEDs) to illuminate the coloured LCDs that make-up the picture. The slimmer 'LED' TVs are 'edge-lit' in which a strip of LEDs at each edge reflect their light behind the screen via mirrors, and some (thicker) 'LED' TVs are 'full' LED, in which a matrix of LEDs lies behind the whole area of the screen.

The screen itself is always the same, i.e just a piece of thin clear plastic.

PLASMA screens however are a completely different kettle of fish (and their surface runs hot).

Hope the above helps.

Yes, I use the optical spray sometimes but the screen doesn't really get dirty, mostly it's a bit of dust.

I`ve got an open fire which sometimes smokes when the wind gusts and some days you could write your name in the dust, well most days to be truthful !...........I wiped the screen one day and found everything was so much brighter and I didn`t need to adjust the brightness LOL

Re: Anyone used TV screen cleaning wipes?

My windows are sometimes like that.  We get an awful lot of fog these days don't we?   :^O

That's one of the reasons I don't like open fires.......the dust on everything.  We only light ours at Christmas and then only if we have visitors!;-)
