The advert on TV showing Iceland's Beef Garland looks luverly - as anyone actually tried it yet? Apparently it is Venison, but have never tasted Venison, so comments on that would be helpful too.
Thanks,

How can something called Beef Garland be made from Venison?
http://groceries.iceland.co.uk/iceland-luxury-beef-garland-1kg/p/55519
Looking at the ingredients it is beef but only 23% and 25% pastry (that leaves 52% for other stuff!) so not very good value for money - personally I'd but some meat from the butchers and some decent ready made puff pastry and make a beef wellington - cheaper, nicer and you know exactly what's in it.

Nothing from Iceland looks ver appitising to me. There has to be a reason it's so cheap!

Agreed.

20% horseradish sauce??? That's a bit much isn't it?

It sounds revolting. Better to buy a beef joint in Aldi.

I do appreciate these comments - had a read of the Link showing ingredients etc - gulp!
Could someone comment on this one - Luxury Venison Garland

Ingredients different, is it any better?

They both look like a sort of ring-shaped pasty or "slice" to me.
Do you have an Aldi near you? Have a look at some of their Christmas specials - they look like much better value for a tenner or less.
Scroll down past the whole turkeys: https://www.aldi.co.uk/en/product-range/exclusive-to-aldi/christmas/christmas-food/meat/

I adore venison, but I wouldn't buy this. It looks dreadful and remember things always look better on the box than in reality.
I ask again - why buy something like this when you could make something far better and tastier for less?
Venison is very rich with little or no waste or fat - I buy fresh venison haunch steaks from a local farm shop and I could get about 6 for £10.
That's when I have to buy it - I occassionally get a bag full - steaks, boned rolled shoulder and casserole venison hung on by back door from my neighbour.

I bought a goose from Aldi last weekend for £19.00 and 4 quail for £5.00 - less than half the price from the butcher but I still recon you could make something better for less money than the supermarket ready made stuff.
Their food is good in the main, especially the frozen apple strudels (drool) and fresh veg - but I don't like the three bird roasts.

I thought it looks horrible yukkkkk,, every time the advert comes on i cringe it just looks solid and uncooked!!!!!!!!!!!!. Some might like it but its not for me.

We normally only get bread, fresh fruit and hot pots (not Iceland's own I hasten to add) from Iceland. Sometimes, we'll get some of their frozen veg.

Ive tried the hog roast from Iceland was going tp keep it for Christmas I am very glad I did not as its mainly stuffing and very little meat., waste of money.

No Gina. We get the Holland's hot pots. They are delicious. They had them on offer this week.
