Aliens in the garden!

Never mind the length of the grass,  but look what's lurking in there! Smiley Surprised

Ink Caps. Very pretty but will make you ill if you eat it.

Re: Aliens in the garden!

OOO no, wouldn't eat any that I found.  They have a lot more lumps and bumps and nodules but you can't see them in the piccy.

Two of my granddaughters kicked them down last weekend and these have replaced them in so short a time. Smiley Happy

I love mushrooms, they are so pretty. I had some Puffballs in the garden last week.

Re: Aliens in the garden!

It makes you wonder where they suddenly come from doesn't it.

Something I once heard that I found fascinating, although it's simple enough if you only think about it is, if you tied a rope across a small field and left it for two or three years, you would have a hedge growing there. So obvious but something that never occurred to be before!Smiley Happy

Re: Aliens in the garden!

They grow from spores in the ground. I think they are fascinating. You have to know what you are picking though. We used to get huge horse mushrooms in the fields back in Somerset.

Re: Aliens in the garden!

Oh nooooooooo Smiley Sad  Do you mean what I think you mean?  The two bodies

Dreadful

Re fungi - I love them too, we get some lovely ones up on a local heath.  In our garden, a town garden, we only seem to get those flimsy little 'fairy ring' ones in one area of the lawn

Where my parents ashes are, in a memorial garden, those wonderful large red & white spotted toadstools appear.  You know, the sort that shelter elves, pixies & fairies.  Magical things!!

Re: Aliens in the garden!

there seems to be so many fungi growing in peep's gardens....they've turned up in abundance on the front lawn, we've got two fairy rings too.

they're fascinating to look at aren't they?
