Absolutely Pig Sick !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Scenario, took the dog to the vet on Thursday. Parked the car and went in, dog seen and just as I came out the door a woman in a BMW X5 reversed into the side of my car denting the rear passenger door badly enough to need quite a costly repair.

Now my car being 13 years old it very well might be written off because of costings even though it is well maintained and looked after, so I might need to get another car.

All because of one door being dented !

SICK SICK SICK.

Yes, they should at least speak with you and take the basic details. Insurers don't like late claims being lodged by policyholders. It does say on your policy that if there is any chance of a claim that you must inform the insurer as soon as very possible. They obviously won't make a payout until it's confirmed to be a proper claim. If she doen't get a move on tell her you

Just tried the insurance company claims department and they told me call another number on Monday as that one is closed. Called the woman and told her no contact yet and I will be calling her company on Monday and she said she will call again and gee them up. Also told her that if they do not make contact soon I will stop being reasonable and put it in my insurance company hands to retrieve costs and hire of a replacement car until mine is repaired. Mine is still driveable but if they start flanneling me I will go the full hog and say I want it repaired now and a hire car instead of waiting until I am on holiday and do not need the car.

That's the way to do it. It's usaul for the other party's insurer to make contact with the 'victim's' insurer, so expect a call from them when you can explain what happened and say that you are 'not likely' to claim on your own insurance unless you have trouble with the other party.

What I do not understand Peter is ! that she will have an excess on her policy and will need to pay that and I could have likely repaired it for her excess if she had let me and just gave me that money. That would have kept the insurance well away from it.

She probably doesn't realise how insurance works.

Yet....
