Do you mean the Nova 1? I've only ever seen it in photographs, looks nice, but I've never seen one on the line.... though I probably will do, I think they travel along the line I'm going side by side to on my present expeditions!

I can't remember which of the three Novas is which... I just use the class numbers...
04-12-2019 2:26 PM
It's a sleak looking number of a train, insides look nice too!
Here's a couple of pics from my Staley & Millbrook Goods Shed visit:

Yes, they're all good looking designs inside and out.
As to your photos - that interior shot is very interesting; rather more still there than I would have expected.
05-12-2019 2:43 PM
There's a lot more there than you can see in my photo, it really just needs a little work.... OK a lot of work done to it, but the structure is sound! There's a lot of other features around it, but I had to cut my visit short due to the light going, so I'll be going back again, maybe this Sunday, plus I still need to get to the other stations I had to leave out on that day!
05-12-2019 9:08 PM
It's got the sort of look like you might see in a film hasn't it?
You know the sort of thing; weary traveller(s), late evening, need shelter for the night, the butler welcomes them in, they settle down... then the sinister music plays and you realise they're in somewhere like Castle Dracula or similar...
12-12-2019 2:11 PM
True, though I think it would be an OK place the spend time if it's chucking it down outside!
Well I found out about what is happening at Hyde Road Station, the site clearance will beging early Jan, with the lifting of the bridge happening end of Jan early Feb, so I need to really get down as often as I can to dig up and out some of the features I've found, before they're lost forever!
12-12-2019 10:35 PM
Don't forget what I said about documenting it well enough to write a magazine article on it all.
18-12-2019 2:46 PM
I'll be going back to Hyde Road Railway Station this weekend, I want to get more pics and hopefully open up the hole to the underground chamber, large enough so I can get inside... must remember my pickaxe this time!
18-12-2019 9:36 PM
A pickaxe?

Heh, yes, however after some checking, most of the ones I can get are a little too big for me to conceal in my backpack, so I've decided on getting a small Wrecking Bar instead!
19-12-2019 9:38 PM
Could you not get a smaller size pick that can be dismantled for carrying? Or do they not make them like that these days?
23-12-2019 12:08 PM
I haven't seen one, though I have seen a 35cm mini mattock here on eBay, but if I order it, the thing won't arrive until after the site has been closed off.
The bar did help a lot this Sunday, I managed to clear the hole a fair bit, however I spent much of the afternoon digging out the top of the embankment near the exposed wall, so I kinda lost all the time there and the light of day, which meant no entrance into the chamber, plus I would have needed a gound sheet so that I didn't get caught up on anything, or end up covered in mud and muck! However I am going to bring a more substantial spade and get all the things done that I need to do before it's all destroyed!

For some reason I have a picture in my mind of "Digger" from "Vision On"...

cke & peter, a happy healthy and prosperous new year to you both and may all your railway adventures bear fruit aplenty.
