Momma - before you start purring over last night's bedtime, I should admit that it was sort of cancelled out as we all got up very early today ( 04.30 ) for a big day out to the Railfest in York.  Saw a lot of trains, rode a few of them, photographed lots of them, saw a locomotive naming ceremony followed by a multiple flypast from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight ( Spitfire, Hurricane, Lancaster ), got Carol Vorderman's autograph for Yola's collection... Quite a busy day out. 🙂

Today has been a fairly quiet day, but I did get to do quite a long session on my latest painting, which is of a Manor house that is currently used as a hotel and conference centre and has a very nice looking architectural style.  The painting is now more than ½ done and I am hoping to have it finished sometime in late July.

Apologies for my absence last night; we were down in Southampton for the 3 Queens event.  The wet weather intervened and cancelled the Red Arrows, but the fireworks went ahead - albeit with the rockets being swallowed up by low cloud ( which was somewhat comical! ) and the ships were brightly lit as they sailed past a crowded Hythe seafront shortly after 23.00.

Earlier a boat trip round the docks gave the kids a chance to see all three ships close up, the size of the QM2 particularly impressing them.

I see Momma bagged the reversi in my absence!
