Right... Sunday's surprise family trip ( which the kids loved 😞
We walk out of the house and head towards town centre... just round the corner there is a huge smart executive blue and silver Chrysler 300 limousine parked up. Yola and kids gawp at it. Then the driver gets out and opens the back door... the penny drops amongst the family!
Anyway, in we get and it moves off. Kids spend most of the time looking at the people in town staring at the car trying to work out who is inside!
What is not so obvious is that instead of just driving around at random the thing is heading in a more or less constant direction...
After about ¾ hour the car stops and we get out; puzzled looks from the family. They ask where we are and why are we there anyway? And why is my friend from school ( the one with a high end DSLR camera ) there as well?
Then I tell them to turn round and look at the sign on the wall...
We are at Redhill aerodrome.
Much squealing issues from the kids when I say that I have hired a helicopter and we are going for a ride over London.
Perfect weather, good view, flight lasted 28 minutes, I filmed from the front seat next to the pilot, my friend took still photos ( over 100 of them! ) out both sides from one of the middle seats ( kids in window seats; Yola and my friend in middle seats ).
Followed up by a meal in a carvery near Redhill railway station then a taxi home ( while my friend catches a train back to London for Lincoln ).

Leo, Momma - you can find footage of London sightseeing helicopter flights on You Tube. It's a standard route so the clips are pretty much what we saw. Some are clockwise, some are anticlockwise - depends on the winds on the day which way round air traffic control sends them, but they all cover the same ground.

You can also see now why I couldn't say anything until it had happened - just in case anyone who knows us saw it posted here and let the cat out of the bag.

Interesting picture in the paper today of a 10 ft long shark ( not a basking shark but a relative of the great white! ) that was caught off Cornwall this week! Rather typically the headline was: "We're gonna need a bigger boat!"
