2015 Gardening Thread

Just thought that I'd start a gardening thread.  What's everyone growing this year?

Re: 2015 Gardening Thread

I've never managed rhubarb here either.

My courgette and japanese pumpkin seedling are coming along nicely and finally my broad beans have started to germinate.

Our local garden centre had a 20% off event at the weekend so I got some celariac, khol rabi and chinese brocolli seedlings

Re: 2015 Gardening Thread

We've not bothered with courgettes this year because last year, we had the flowers but no courgettes.

Re: 2015 Gardening Thread

you can eat them you know Chris... did you? what did they taste like?

we are fitting a log roll all across the garden at the back to keep the soil in and will refresh the stone path too wit.h different coloured stones.

I also bought a Solanum which should reach 20ft, so that should cover the fence!

That apple blossom is lovely CB.  No, we didn't eat the flowers even though we knew that you can eat them.

Re: 2015 Gardening Thread

I think I'd have gone mad and had a try!!

I bought a forsythia for the back today, but first I'll have to dig out a hugamungus area of iris..blimey, I'll need a sit down after that....and I bought a pot, well my friend bought two thirds of it for my 60th birthday in May, to put my clematis and it's obelisk in, but I get it home and now find the obelisk won't go in it!!! that's my rubbish measuring...ooops. I've had to swap the obelisk for a smaller one in the garden.

Re: 2015 Gardening Thread

I did a bit of pottering in the back garden this afternoon.  We have three stepping stones going from one side of the garden to the greenhouse and I trimmed the grass around those.  I also did a bit of weeding.  As I had done my share of the housework, I am suitably shattered now.

Re: 2015 Gardening Thread

look at the size of the rhubarb leaves compared to Molly! my rhubarb has settled nicely into it's new place, phew, I was worried I'd kill it moving it.

the back of the garden is looking a bit more like a good border now, especially with the log border.

He grew all those from seed too, but he has a big 'muck' pile!!  Years of keeping goats, pigs, a horse, lambs, chickens, ducks.... you get a lot of muck!!  Woman LOL

Re: 2015 Gardening Thread

They are looking good!

Was out in the garden this afternoon.  Potted on my courgettes and Japanese pumpkins.  Tomato plants are coming on a treat.

ONe minute it was lovely sunny weather (cold wind blowing mind) and the next HAIL - hailstone were like big chunks of rock salt!

Has anyone been watching the Chelsea Flower Show?  I like the plants but I'm not too enamoured  by the show gardens.
