Returns

Hi all,

I sold a Electrial item less than 2 weeks old on eBay Saturday and once buyer paid I posted item first class signed for Monday which arrived Tuesday to buyer , within less than an hour they said it wasn't working and wanted a return , I explained the item needs charging and tryed to explain how to set up etc but no reply's .All I got was a picture with them pressing power button down. I accepted return but am worried they swapped the item with thier broken item to pull a fast one.I have receipt for said item with serial number etc so I can prove if they've swapped item with thier broken one but unsure what to do when the item arrives back to me .
Any advice from the community would be great as I stand to lose £365 to a scam.

If a case has been opened you have to accept it as it's all automated no human contact.

Pay  the postage for the return of the item.  If you find the item has been swapped, then contact eBay Customer Services asap and explain the buyer has abused eBay's MBG,  Money Back Guarantee policy.  Do this within 3 days or the buyer can escalate.

It's then in eBay's hands,  as you can appreciate they cannot see the item, but the buyer you never know may have a pattern of doing this.

Hopefully, the buyer was just ignorant of the fact that the item had to be charged up first,  and you will receive it back in good,  unused order to resell again if you wish, perhaps with very clear instructions in the description for the need to charge the item before use.

Thanks for your reply ,I just know that the day I sent it I had done a factory reset and windows update and I'd had the item 2 weeks myself from a retailer which I've still got original receipt with all details including serial number.I shall await return of item and hopefully it's just buyers remorse etc .Thank you again for your advice
