RECEIVED A COUNTER OFFER FRON A BUYER BUT I HAVE NOT TURNED ON OFFERS FROM BUYERS ON MY LISTING

Hi all
I have received an counter offer from a buyer but I haven't turned on the oprion on my listing that allows buyers to make me an offer.. I am a bit confused.
Any advices please?

When i try to message you i am given 1 option under the heading of "make an offer" it then says

"How do I make an offer?
The seller hasn't enabled offers for this item. See if they'll consider – send a message with your best price."

So i don't understand how a buyer could make an offer via the normal route.

To make it more confusing -

"I have received an counter offer from a buyer"

'counter' means you had made them an offer.

I understand your point, but i have not made any offers to buyers on this listing.
