Hi everybody!
The Community Chat will open at 2pm and will remain open until 3pm on Wednesday. After that it will be closed for further questions. Of course, we will continue to take care of answering any questions that may still be unanswered—We’ll get to everything as quickly as possible.
Please ask your questions in the thread below. In order to be able to answer your questions as quickly as possible, we ask you to have one question per post. Of course, you can make as many posts as you like in the Chat- the more the merrier!
Our eBay Community Team is made up of kat@ebay , dave@ebay and marco@ebay . Between us, we have knowledge in Buying, Selling, Fulfilment, Payments, and the Community itself. Anything we aren’t sure on we’ll know the people who will be! Please ask us any questions you may have and we’ll do all we can to support. We understand that certain topics, such as concerns about businesses possibly using private accounts, can be frustrating and important to you. Please refrain from asking the same question repeatedly in our weekly live chats. We assure you that we carefully review all posts in the forum and ensure that your concerns are communicated to the relevant teams for appropriate action.
To maintain a constructive and community environment, posts that repeatedly breach this guideline may be removed. Continued violations could result in further action against your community account. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding in helping us keep our community focused and respectful.
To ask your question, click Reply in the lower-right corner of this post, type your question, and click Reply between 2pm and 3pm. The community team will answer each incoming question in chronological order and will quote the original question in each answer.
Please note that any reply without a question to the community team or discussion replies may be removed from the chat. We want to keep on track to get through as many questions as possible. We welcome all discussion to be moved to the discussion boards.
If you missed the weekly chat time, please ask your question in the community boards and tag us or we will be back next week with another chat!
Many thanks,

I don't have any details at the moment, but we usually post any details on these subjects in the Announcements Board.
As soon as we have more I'll have it posted ASAP.

SUGGESTED CATEGORIES ON LISTING AN ITEM
Has anyone else noticed a change in the last month or so with the `suggested categories` when listing a new item. THESE SUGGESTIONS WERE WORKING VERY WILL UNTIL AROUND END OF MARCH AND WERE PROBABLY 98% ACCURATE BEFORE…NOW THEY ARE ABOUT 2% ACCURATE.
A typical example….
Item title…..
5 x BARBARA STREISAND VINYL LP RECORD ALBUMS 1970s
(click on `Change category` and this is what you now get…..
Suggested
Coins > Coins > World > Latin America/Caribbean
Coins > Coins > World > Asia
Crafts > Needlecrafts & Yarn > Crocheting & Knitting > Other Crocheting & Knitting
WHAT A LOAD OF RUBBISH …A COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME. Whatever has been changed needs to be undone, if its using AI then just scrap it!
Thank you for the feedback on the suggested categories. I'll share your examples with the relevant project team.
Thank you,
Kat

Are there further announcements/messages due from eBay regarding Simple Delivery being mandatory as some accounts are still having custom postage option available ??
Hi manyjamjar, thanks for your question.
No as of yet, at the moment we are onboarding sellers in waves, which is why you're seeing sellers with custom postage still available to them. However, we have no further communications due on this for now, and we don't have an exact date as to when exactly all sellers will be fully onboarded.
Thank you,
Marco

I've been using ebay for years and it seems to be more and more increasingly difficult to reach customer services by phone, especially when trying to help resolve a feedback dispute or for genuine sellers to defend a sale against a fraudulent buyer. Can you provide an up to date telephone contact for ebay customer services please?

Why when ending multi variation listings and then sell similar does ebay include sold/out of stock items when relisting? Causing problems due to out of stock items now showing as in stock again.
When relisting hundreds of items it is very time consuming having to click in and out of multi variation listings checking each and every one.
If I remember correctly this is because the listing is relisted with the original quantities from when it first went live. I'll have to double check that to make sure I'm right and I'll get back to you after the chat.
Thanks,
Dave

Thank you Marco. Item number was 267225727371. I have sent to CI in past prior to SD being introduced without issue. Buyers need to pay a sales tax on Jersey but eBay has always taken care of this in past. I have relisted in the hope that the buyer will bid again so I can close to him or make an offer. Appreciate any insight you can offer.

I asked before but given the delays I think it's worth asking again, would it be possible please to notify ebay users when their accounts are put onto mandatory simple delivery?
If I've understood correctly at this point ebay would be guessing the size / weights / postage rates for all existing listings and I think most sellers would want to check their listings when this has happened to fix any obvious errors.

Thanks for your reply, caerleon1959.
Just to confirm, is it all good from your end, right? Only issue is from the buyer's end when they get an error saying the cannot pay? If so, do you know the exact error? If the error is from the buyer's end, I cannot guarantee that we can resolve it over here, as we can only check accounts where the account holder flags the issue directly with us, but we can at least take a look at the item in question just to make sure it is all good from your end.
Thank you,
Marco

Yes that does seem correct, but why for a multi variation listings relist something that has sold out for some items and stock for others. All it does is cause problems as it shows buyer there is stock for items which have sold out. Can't ebay build a future where if a item is sold out it either carries it over as zero or deletes that item from the listing. If the seller relists or sells similar.

Hi
If SD is required for large letter size packages then why are large letter size items show as exempt from SD in the long list of categories recently put in the help pages
e.g. the list gives examples e.g. a dvd, a cd, an ornament, Lego toys, bulbs, sellotape,
none of these would fit in an envelope
Confused

Hi @entertainmentking1 ,
There isn't a phone number to call for customer support. Contacting them in done through your eBay account through the contact us option. There should be callback and chat options through there. The callback option may not always be available during busy periods. Quieter periods can be from 8am in the mornings and later in the evenings.
Thank you,
Kat

Hi guys - I see that the Windsor framework goes live tomorrow and as a business seller to retail customers I understand that the postal carrier is responsible for ensuring the import requirements are met. I believe I can no longer use stamps, like I did previously, and can I just check that by buying a postage label through eBay that I am meeting the requirements?

It may be too late to work it in to how the rollout works but we have received this as a suggestion a few times.
I'll pass it back through the usual channels to see if it is something that can be worked into the rollout.
Thanks,
Dave

I would be happy to send to Jersey. The seller said they could not pay as I did not ship to Channel Islands - this is not correct. I would have invoiced as a possible workaround but this option has gone. For some reason the original listing did not show any postage being included which I think was a system error as I always charge for postage. I have relisted the item this morning and hope that the buyer comes back. BUT I do not want to encounter this issue again. Not sure if you are in UK but Channel Islands is the same as mainland UK for Royal Mail postage.
Cheers.

Hi edwardian-dreams, thanks for your question.
As advised before, this would depend on different factors, like item, carrier, service, item location, buyer location, etc. So, at times, you will see it with Simple Delivery, and sometimes you will see it with Simple Delivery. I can see how this can be confusing, so I will flag this with the relevant team, so this can also be taken into consideration. However, please note that this doesn't necessarily means that changes around this will be implemented.
Thank you,
Marco

Hi @jamjartoys,
If you buy delivery labels on eBay, you may be required to provide some extra information at time of label purchase relating to your shipment, such as a HS code, the item value, weight and description.

Ah perfect caerleon1959, thanks for confirming.
We will be able to check your end only, so I will pass that on for review. However, if there is nothing wrong with your listing, the buyer will have to contact us as the issue might be from their end.
Once I have an update for you, I will reply here again to let you know. 👍
Thank you,
Marco

You see, marco@ebay this is where we start to lose faith. It's the inconsistency.
Only in rather contrived circumstances could your response be credible.
Why can't you just admit that the information being given is confusing at best, if not downright wrong?

It's probably been unchanged on the site since variations were introduced. I'll do a bit of digging on it to see if there is any scope to change how it relists.
Thanks,
Dave

Sorry, another question!
On the active listings page there is currently a 'postage cost' column. When simple delivery is mandatory will there be a column showing simple delivery size / weight band? Or will this postage cost column show the simple delivery postage cost?
And similarly on the bulk listings page will there be a column where we can see the size / weight band and edit in bulk?
Finally it would be very helpful if both the active listings page and the bulk listings editor could include a column showing the price shown to buyers, ie including Buyer Protection Fee. In an ideal world this would be editable and update the seller price accordingly but even just to see it would be helpful.
