Hi everybody!
The Community Chat will open at 2pm and will remain open until 3pm on Wednesday. After that it will be closed for further questions. Of course, we will continue to take care of answering any questions that may still be unanswered—We’ll get to everything as quickly as possible.
Please ask your questions in the thread below. In order to be able to answer your questions as quickly as possible, we ask you to have one question per post. Of course, you can make as many posts as you like in the Chat- the more the merrier!
Our eBay Community Team is made up of kat@ebay, marco@ebay and dave@ebay. Between us, we have knowledge in Buying, Selling, Fulfilment, Payments, and the Community itself. Anything we aren’t sure on we’ll know the people who will be! Please ask us any questions you may have and we’ll do all we can to support. We understand that certain topics, such as concerns about businesses possibly using private accounts, can be frustrating and important to you. Please refrain from asking the same question repeatedly in our weekly live chats. We assure you that we carefully review all posts in the forum and ensure that your concerns are communicated to the relevant teams for appropriate action.
To maintain a constructive and community environment, posts that repeatedly breach this guideline may be removed. Continued violations could result in further action against your community account. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding in helping us keep our community focused and respectful.
To ask your question, click Reply in the lower-right corner of this post, type your question, and click Reply between 2pm and 3pm. The community team will answer each incoming question in chronological order and will quote the original question in each answer.
Please note that any reply without a question to the community team or discussion replies may be removed from the chat. We want to keep on track to get through as many questions as possible. We welcome all discussion to be moved to the discussion boards.
If you missed the weekly chat time, please ask your question in the community boards and tag us or we will be back next week with another chat!
Many thanks,
Your eBay Community Team

I can’t easily find the answer to my question in Help & Contact.
Does ebay place spending restrictions on a buyers account if it is not used for a period of time?
If you could point me at where I should be looking for further details that would be a great help. Thanks,

Hi, I noticed that the send offer option in messages is no longer available, has this been permantly removed or is it a fault with system?
It's anoying as sometimes if a buy it now listing has had an offer sent out, you are not allowed to edit the listing. So the only way to change the price for someone to buy it is to end the listing change the price and relist it.
If this was an ebay decision to remove it then they really dont think of everything from a sellers perspective and decisions just make even more work for sellers

Hi @sweetcharity.2013 ,
There isn't an information page in help and contact for dormant accounts specifically. Usually if an ebay account is not used in a long time it would be in a dormant status. Do you have an older account that you need checked?
Thank you,
Kat

Really would appreciate it if I could opt our from third party spam in ebay messages especially Youlend
For example You’re eligible for up to ££37,300 sound great until you realise who the lender is ie Not ebay
I do not want to opt out of all messages just the unsolicited spam

Any idea why (since about 5 days ago) I have to sign in every time I visit the eBay community area, despite me having 'stay signed in' ticked?

Hi sweetcharity.2013, thanks for your question.
Could you please confirm the item number, so we can look into it for you?
Thank you,
Marco

Hi Team
This is more feedback rather than a question
Personalised goods, There has to be a way eBay can allow us to limit the amount of characters a buyer can use to add their personalisation.
For some products I have the words 'No more than 40 characters' in the title, in the personalisation box details, in the description and as an added picture and still get people sending me essays they think I can fit under a 5cm sticker or on an 11oz mug.
I spend so much time messaging buyers to say look that is not going to fit, time better spent doing other things.
Honestly it works so well on another site I sell on being able to decide how many characters for each product.

Good Afternoon Community Team
It’s quite obvious from many posts on the boards that a lot of users that decide to subscribe to a shop believe that this then means they are registered as a business.
Can I make a suggestion that when the subscription takes place ebay make it clear this is not the case?
Or alternatively only make shop subscriptions available to registered business sellers.
Jo

Hi @jiggery-pokery ,
I can feedback that you no longer want to receive the You Lend emails but there isn't a way to opt out of just one specific advert without opting out of all these types of messages
Thank you,
Kat

Hi darth_baggins, thanks for your question.
There are a different number of factors that could be causing this, sometimes it might simple things like clearing caches and cookies, or logging in from a different device or network. Sometimes, it might be to security alerts triggered by another different number of factors. If it is happening too often, I'd be more than happy to report that for you to see what's happening there.
Thank you,
Marco

Thanks Kat.
No it's not an older account, but it might be this one in the near future. I just wondered if I didn't use it for a while would I have a buying limit restriction put on it after a certain period of time & what that time scale was?

I haven't seen any updates to say it was removed but I'll ask the guys on the site team if it was an update or possibly a tech issue.
Thanks,
Dave

Another user did raise this point this week about being able to set the amount of characters for the personalisation box. This would require a design change so I will add you to that feedback to share with our development team. Right now there is no plans to change it but will share with them for a future enhancement.
Thank you,
Kat

Selling to the USA (core site) even via GSP has a unique challenge. Is it worth raising the issue of Tracking Uploaded and Confirmed here?
A punitive metric that can make the difference between Top Rated / Above Standard / Below Standard that cannot be appealed. Would really appreciate some help please

Hi @bojangled
Thanks for the heads up, I'll scan through the community for some examples and send them over to development team. It might not be something they are aware of.
Thanks,
Dave
