Weekly Chat with the eBay Community Team- 27.08.25 @2pm

Hi everybody!

The Community Chat will open at 2pm and will remain open until 3pm on Wednesday. After that it will be closed for further questions. Of course, we will continue to take care of answering any questions that may still be unanswered—We’ll get to everything as quickly as possible.

Please ask your questions in the thread below. In order to be able to answer your questions as quickly as possible, we ask you to have one question per post. Of course, you can make as many posts as you like in the Chat- the more the merrier!

Our eBay Community Team is made up of dave@ebay and marco@ebay . Between us, we have knowledge in Buying, Selling, Fulfilment, Payments, and the Community itself. Anything we aren’t sure on we’ll know the people who will be! Please ask us any questions you may have and we’ll do all we can to support. We understand that certain topics, such as concerns about businesses possibly using private accounts, can be frustrating and important to you. Please refrain from asking the same question repeatedly in our weekly live chats. We assure you that we carefully review all posts in the forum and ensure that your concerns are communicated to the relevant teams for appropriate action.
To maintain a constructive and community environment, posts that repeatedly breach this guideline may be removed. Continued violations could result in further action against your community account. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding in helping us keep our community focused and respectful.

To ask your question, click Reply in the lower-right corner of this post, type your question, and click Reply between 2pm and 3pm. The community team will answer each incoming question in chronological order and will quote the original question in each answer.

Please note that any reply without a question to the community team or discussion replies may be removed from the chat. We want to keep on track to get through as many questions as possible. We welcome all discussion to be moved to the discussion boards.

If you missed the weekly chat time, please ask your question in the community boards and tag us or we will be back next week with another chat!

Many thanks,

Your eBay Community Team

Re: Weekly Chat with the eBay Community Team- 27.08.25 @2pm

I’m sorry to sound like a broken record, but, what do we need to do to make eBay take some action on bogus private sellers, who should clearly be operating business accounts?

On three occasions, I personally have reported one particular user, who has around 200 listings, but as many as 80 of each item, all of which are brand new items of clothing. I know that at least one other member has reported the user. His feedback indicates he has been doing this for a number of years, and his username certainly suggests this too.

No private individual would ever have anything near this volume of brand new items.

EBay ignores these reports, and as the matter has been reported to them, they can’t deny knowledge, so the obvious conclusion is that they condone such behaviour.

This needs to change.

Re: Weekly Chat with the eBay Community Team- 27.08.25 @2pm

Is there any chance that eBay will remove their ban on "Combined Shipping" for Send Offer items?
(Send Offers was one of eBay's greatest innovations to help sellers boost sales from interested buyers, but since last September eBay forced immediate payment on Offers. So a buyer who receives 10 offers has to pay 10 P&P charges! Before Sep 2024, accepted offers went through to the shopping basket so postage could be combined). As such, SEND OFFERS is now totally useless and an extremely damaging tool for sellers. Please bring back the Shopping Basket!

Re: Weekly Chat with the eBay Community Team- 27.08.25 @2pm

Good afternoon

Can you please urgently escalate this issue to IT.  Many sellers including myself are having an issue with Postage section missing off our listings, when we go to revise a listing, add a similar item, or create a new listing, the postage section has completely gone

We therefore cannot add new listings or amend listings due to this.  It appears the whole postage section has been replaced with the word DELIVERY.

Please see a photo of what the delivery section has been replaced with

 Best wishes

Hi beddaustamps, thanks for your question.

We are not aware of plans around this in the near feature, but I'd be happy to send your feedback about this. Regarding immediate payments, please note that this is optional, and you don't have to add this features to your listings if you don't want to.

Thank you,

Marco

Re: Weekly Chat with the eBay Community Team- 27.08.25 @2pm

Hi,

Hope you're having a good day! Thanks for having this community chat.

We are Pure5UK (business seller) and wanted to know how the community can support with advice etc in terms of a business sellers Sales have dropped drastically?

Here is a quick brief of our business pattern: We started as a business seller in 2019. We took a break due to Pandemic etc and restarted again at a full pace end of 2022. We are glad to say that our hard work brought positive outcomes.

Throughout 2023 -2024 was the years we put all our best in and wanted to continue in the coming years.

However, Unfortunately -  from beginning of 2025 we tarted to see a drastic downfall in Sales within our business.

Main Point to notice here is that we have not changed anything we do to run our business where we did not require to. In the current situation we have seeked help numerous amount times from Customer Service Team and the Sales Team aswell but saddened to know that nothing changed.

Even being one of the Top Rated Seller for a long time, giving our best effort, time, knowledge & Skill nothing is working now.

If you can please shed some light help us rescue our business.

Thanks!

Hi lincolnshiremarine, thanks for your question.

We haven't been confirmed when exactly this will be resolved, but the team is aiming to the this resolved as soon as they possibly can. Also, I've added you to the report to let them know that your account is being impacted.

Re: Weekly Chat with the eBay Community Team- 27.08.25 @2pm

UPDATE FOR AN ISSUE REPORTED THREE WEEKS AGO

Dave, if you recall I reported an issue almost three weeks ago on here

It was in regards to a buyer selecting collection for two items purchased.  The buyer collected the items in person on 17th July 2025

We ticked collected and scanned the QR code to confirm to eBay they had been collected on 17th July.

However, it is still showing our end in awaiting dispatch, eBay thinks we have one remaining eBay postage to complete.

I have heard nothing back from eBay about getting this resolved.

How long will it take for eBay to resolve this please?

Once again I have attached a photo of what I am seeing my end, it is relating to eBay order number: 06-13329-02870.

Best wishes

Re: Weekly Chat with the eBay Community Team- 27.08.25 @2pm

Are you going to look into the issues with Simple Delivery.?

There are too many to list but a few are:

Not being able to select the correct size for the item

Updates to already listed items changing the size i.e. large letter being auto updated to small parcel

Extra charges being made to those who only want to use Royal Mail - New ones coming in on 1st September charging an extra £2 to £3 for those not wanting to use Evri

No options given as to signed for 24 or 48 hour delivery etc

Until you have ironed out all of the issues please make this optional

Hi @vinylscot

I understand it can look like we aren't taking action on these reports but I can assure you the policy team do take these reports seriously. Unfortunately as the reporters are not the account holders we cannot even hint at any action that was taken.

The policy team will take action based on their findings when they review the report. They can take any number of actions on a report which could range from an email to an account restriction but this might not be visible to anyone but the account holder.

Please continue to report any users you are unsure about and the guys will take any necessary actions.

Thanks,

Dave

Re: Weekly Chat with the eBay Community Team- 27.08.25 @2pm

Thank you Marco.

I did report it to Customer Services this morning,  with evidence, as said it is impacting lots of sellers and many more I would guess, but they may not have spotted it yet.

Re: Weekly Chat with the eBay Community Team- 27.08.25 @2pm

Thanks dave@ebay but that's just your stock answer.

Anyone who reports a user keeps a note, and checks later to see if anything has changed.

I've personally reported a few, and only seen one instance where there was any change - that user stopped selling.

There is no conceivable way the one I referred to in my first post could be a private seller, with thousands of items of clothing in stock (when you add up the quantities on each listing), and feedback from selling 8,000+ more.

I'll leave it there, but it's plain to see your "policy team" is not taking these reports seriously.

Thanks for your reply, lincolnshiremarine.

That's all good, thanks for letting us know anyway. We were able to replicate the issues and spot the impacted accounts, I've just flagged your just in case, but we'll take it from here, and hopefully the issue will be resolved very soon.

Thank you,

Marco

Re: Weekly Chat with the eBay Community Team- 27.08.25 @2pm

Hi, I'm also having the same issue in regards to revising listings, unable to change the price or delivery options as mentioned above.

On another note, is there anything in the works to show the offer price/offer price inc buyers fee when sending an offer to watchers? At the moment you can't see the price you are actually offering inc buyers fee only the price exc buyers fee which is not ideal. If you send an offer to a specific member through a message however you do get to see this.

Cheers

Re: Weekly Chat with the eBay Community Team- 27.08.25 @2pm

I would for a change just like to give a big helping hand to the customer service team - who I have asked to have PACKLINK investigated, due to the way they have been treating many sellers who have used the old postage system (correctly might I add) before simple delivery. Where they have trying to be fraudlent in the way they are asking for extra charges - and saying thier machinces have been callibrated correctley and your 750g parcel is in fact weighing between 1200g and 1900g. Poppycock.

They have been found out, they are trying to charge sellers an extra £3.18 on top of the 2.94 which has allready been paid for the Evri deliverys. I have proof on every single one of the postage I send and have sent to Packlink.

This has been going on for many months with differt sellers - I am realy glad that one of the customer service team took this further - so for once Can you please pass my gratidue on to the cs team for a job well done.

Hi @pure5uk

Thanks for reaching out to us.

We cant offer support through the community as we are not a customer support channel. There are however some options available to you.

We offer 1 to 1 support through our seller clinics. They are a team of specialists who will be able to review your account with you and mage suggestions which should help you get back on top.

We also have a great YouTube Channel. There's a number of tutorials, videos from our events as well as videos from other sellers sharing tips and tricks for increasing sales.

If you can it would also be worth signing up for the eBay Open. There you will be able to speak with other sellers as well as attending talks with some our selling experts and also have the option to book a 1 to 1 with our market place advisors.

Hopefully you find some of the above useful.

Thanks,

Dave

Hi ofarrell_designs, thanks for your question.

Re the issue for postage options, we are aware of this, and I will flag that your account is being impacted. This is currently being worked on, and hopefully it will be resolved very son.

Regarding your question for offers, I am not aware of any plans to change this at the moment, but I will pass on this as feedback as well.

Thank you,

Marco

I have just had a post card purchased which was at a cost £3.00 to the buyer

Why have i just been charged £2.70 for postage ?
