Weekly Chat with the eBay Community Team- 25.09.24 @2pm

Now I've had a dodgy estimated delivery time for a buyer.  Buyer ordered 19th Sept, dispatched 20th Sept by  2nd class RM (I am registered for 1 business day dispatch), buyer given estimated delivery 21st to 23rd Sept.  21st is a Saturday.  So the eBay system gave a delivery estimate based on ZERO working days despite the RM saying to alow 2-3 working days.  Needless to say, Monday morning I'm having to deal with an irrate buyer.

I'm now just waiting for the inevitable post on here where a buyer is given a delivery estimate a day or two before they placed the order.

This delivery estimate system is NOT working, I have the direct experience myself now proving that.

What sanctions will ebay take on these accounts and when will we see evidence of this action.?

Hi moldosgifts, thanks for your question.

If an account is prompted to upgrade to business and do not do so, their selling account will be restricted, evidence won't be provided as other people account details cannot be shared with other due to privacy and security reasons.

Thank you,

Marco

The recent 'Free to Sell' pop-up is causing a lot of confusion. What does it actually mean?

Hi Folks,

Hope you are all keeping well.

Hopefully this is an easy one - on the Seller Hub pages (e.g. Manage orders awaiting dispatch) I think there used to be a "Customise" link which allowed me to adjust the columns and their order but it seems to have gone (maybe at the beginning of Sept?) ... is this part of a specific change or has is popped-off for a late summer holiday and will be back with us again soon?

I checked on Chrome and FF (latest versions) but can see no signs unless it is now accessed in a very different way.

Thx in advance.

Hi All,

Another GSPR question.

Someone posted on a thread (I think it was Monday but can't find it now) that second hand items which are listed before the 'live' December date, do not have to be updated to comply with GSPR.

If this is correct, would I be able to leave the postage policies as they are for these listings and then create new postage policies for the new listings which exclude NI and EU?

What I am getting at is if you exclude countries on new policies, will it affect the old policies. If not, this will be an easier way forward for me.

Hi @ccla3379 ,

Thanks for the question. It looks like this was a design change. However let me follow this up to have it checked. I'll come back to you when I have further information.

Thank you,

Kat

Hi @dwtrading2015

As you may know the EDDs are dynamic and based on a number of factors including account performance and the delivery rates of the chosen carrier. Royal Mail consider Saturday a delivery day so it would be factored into the  EDD.

If you PM me the transaction ID, I can ask the shipping team to review the transaction to make sure that its correct.

Thanks,

Dave

Im not asking for evidence to see individuals I'm asking when will we see these sellers actually get restricted and when will we see them being forced to change or leave, i have one particular member i am looking at clearly a business but still trading 2 weeks after the deadline.

There seems to be very little evidence that ebay have done anything about this apart from a message, which is the minimum you could have done.

Hi cobwebcottage, thanks for your question.

Really good question actually, but the answer to that would be no, once the regulation kicks in, every live listing has to be in compliance, as it is about when the transaction/purchase takes place, not when the item was listed.

Thank you,

Marco

Thanks Kat. Just for absolute clarity... if I exclude all EU countries and NI using that listing functionality, those in the EU or NI will not be able to place a GSP order and hence I will not be required to comply with GSPR?

The order is 05-12095-95219.

"Royal Mail consider Saturday a delivery day so it would be factored into the EDD."

And this is a critical error!  RM consider 'working days' to be Monday to Friday. Those are the days used to count for estimated delivery times. Whether Saturday is a delivery day or not is not relevant.  So there's one bug the shipping team can correct.

Hi,

Hope you and everyone reading is well.

With the soon to be change for private accounts only having a certain number of free listings there is some confusion, can you let me know if automatically relisted items will be counted in this 300 as I was told at the open event it would be but the wording says differently and has still not been changed. Whilst it doesnt effect me if what I was told is correct and the wording is incorrect people will be facing charges they were not expecting.

I understand you will have to ask somebody higher up so a reply later is perfectly fine, just any update would be great.

Thanks for your reply, moldosgifts.

You will not see that, as advised before, all accounts matters are strictly private to the account holder for privacy and security reasons.

Thank you,

Marco

There are many sellers in the personalised and handmade categories selling on private accounts not to mention all the copyright, why has not one of them been forced to upgrade?

I am getting so annoyed at having to compete against sellers who can list thousands of items for free

Am I wasting my time expecting anything to be done about this?

Thanks @dwtrading2015

Ill pass this on the shipping team to review and let you know what they come back with.

Thanks,

Hi @iceblue_uk ,

Yes if those countries are excluded then they should not be able to place an order . If no orders are going to the EU & NI then you don't need to have the GSPR requirements.

Thank you,

Kat

Hi suelel1968, thanks for your question.

If the issue in question is only happening in one specific browser, it means the issue wouldn't be from our end, but from the browser in question. If it was an issue from our end, it wouldn't work in any browser. When that happens we could only suggest clearing caches and cookies, or using different browsers.

Thank you,

Marco
