Hi everybody!
The Community Chat will open at 2pm and will remain open until 3pm on Wednesday. After that it will be closed for further questions. Of course, we will continue to take care of answering any questions that may still be unanswered—We’ll get to everything as quickly as possible.
Please ask your questions in the thread below. In order to be able to answer your questions as quickly as possible, we ask you to have one question per post. Of course, you can make as many posts as you like in the Chat- the more the merrier!
Our eBay Community Team is made up of kat@ebay, marco@ebay and dave@ebay. Between us, we have knowledge in Buying, Selling, Fulfilment, Payments, and the Community itself. Anything we aren’t sure on we’ll know the people who will be! Please ask us any questions you may have and we’ll do all we can to support. We understand that certain topics, such as concerns about businesses possibly using private accounts, can be frustrating and important to you. Please refrain from asking the same question repeatedly in our weekly live chats. We assure you that we carefully review all posts in the forum and ensure that your concerns are communicated to the relevant teams for appropriate action.
To maintain a constructive and community environment, posts that repeatedly breach this guideline may be removed. Continued violations could result in further action against your community account. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding in helping us keep our community focused and respectful.
To ask your question, click Reply in the lower-right corner of this post, type your question, and click Reply between 2pm and 3pm. The community team will answer each incoming question in chronological order and will quote the original question in each answer.
Please note that any reply without a question to the community team or discussion replies may be removed from the chat. We want to keep on track to get through as many questions as possible. We welcome all discussion to be moved to the discussion boards.
If you missed the weekly chat time, please ask your question in the community boards and tag us or we will be back next week with another chat!
Many thanks,
Your eBay Community Team

Dear community team
This morning on this thread
https://community.ebay.co.uk/t5/Seller-Central/SIngle-Listing-but-with-Multiple-Items/m-p/7995468
I posted a solution with a link to a YT video, showing the OP the step by step process of how to create the listing with variations.
The video in question was 4 years old, made by a high profile eBay seller, one of your own award winners and a member of the eBay council.
The moderator removed it.
Are we really no longer allowed to post YouTube links to helpful eBay tutorials?
I’ve posted this link before with no problems, and received appreciation.
Given that eBay don’t have a video tutorial on the process and the only thing it advertised was eBay I find the ‘friendly moderation’ notification ridiculous.
I then had a second post removed for mentioning the fact I’d had a post removed.
Trying not to take it personally but clearly I’m on the naughty step!
Jo

Hi @bojangled ,
Your intention was good to to help the member here so I do understand its not nice to have your post moderated. You were giving good details but I'm afraid the link itself is not allowed. It is part of policy not to discuss moderation so that would be why that second post was removed.
Thank you,
Kat

Hi,I am a UK citizen resident in the UK. I have been using my ebay account for 22+ years. I have bought and sold many items and have 100% feedback. During these 22+years I spent a few years working in Thailand. As per ebay recommendations I updated my personal details with my Thai address. Having returned to the UK, I now want to revert my personal details to use my UK home address. After several weeks trying to get this change made via the website and failing, specialist agents at ebay say I cant revert to my UK address! Note this is not an IT issue, a block has been imposed by ebay on my account to prevent this change. This means I will always appear as resident in Thailand, I can't sell without joining Payoneer, and I can't get payments to my bank account directly. There are probably also tax consequences. The solution suggested by ebay is to open a new account! As you can imagine, losing 22+years of positive feedback as a result of a block imposed by ebay is not acceptable. Why have ebay blocked me being able to revert my address? Thanks in advance for any help here
Hi big_shauny, thanks for your question.
Since Managed Payments became available, country of registration cannot be change. As in, if you're registered from the UK, you cannot change it if you move to Spain, Italy, Thailand, or Canada, for example. I understand where you're coming from, but the information you've been given is correct. If you wish to learn more about this, you can click here.
Thank you,
Marco

May i please have your comments and reasoning why Ebay take this action.
Seller lists an item 100% as described. Buyer (who happens to be a dealer of said items by their own admission in messages) open a not as described case. Seller is left in an akward position. Buyer is obviously a bad dealer if they do not realise what they are purchasing when its very clear in the listing. They thought they were getting something worth several hundred for under £100s.
After contacting Ebay CS they agree with the seller.....immediately close the case in the sellers favour BUT refund both seller and buyer and the buyer keeps all the expensive items.
The above is what i have an issue with. Why should the buyer or seller get a refund/keep the proceeds of sale as well as the jewellery?????
Could Ebay not consider having said items returned to them directly somehow and forward them on to a charity or force the buyer to donate them to charity and only get refunded once they provide proof they have done this ????
A dishonest buyer could do the above a couple of times before Ebay realise what they are up to 😞
Yes buyer has been blocked and reported.

Hi and thanks for the reply.
I registered my account in the UK, not Thailand. All I did was update the personal details because ebay recommends it. If my personal address cant be changed then why do ebay reommend it and provide edit functionality of the personal address? Why should managed payments be an issue?
I just don't understand why this simple change should not be possible.

Hi @1956glyn,
As you know, we are not a customer support channel and we don't have access to review cases. Without being able to see the full details of the transaction I cannot comment on why an action was taken.
You can reach out to the CS through the usual channels and they may be able to give more clarification on the details of the case.
Thanks,
Dave

Thank you Dave and nice to see you around again.
I basically was asking why Ebay have this policy whereby one party gets refunded and also keeps the item.
The case was immediately closed in my favour as the seller BUT the buyer has benefitted greatly.

I'm not referring to your account registration, but the managed payments registration. If you registered over there with your Payoneer account, it cannot be changed.
You can change your address for multiple reasons, but mainly, once you order something if you are buying, you can change it, so you can receive it at your address.
As advised above, Managed Payments is not an issue, it is just not possible to change it. For further information, you can use the link I provided you with above.
Thank you,
Marco

Hello All,
I listed a musical manicure set which was removed due to Ebays knife policy. I completely forgot that it could be used as an offensive weapon!
When you try to resolve the violation and add an age related postage service, it still will not let you list the item.
I sent an appeal to state that I had added the correct postage and this was still rejected.
It doesn't seem that the procedure we are supposed to follow is fit for purpose as it suggests adding the age verification postage and you still cannot relist it.
If I create a new listing with the correct postage ( age verified), can you reassure me that my account will not be blocked for relisting it?

Ok, how do i find out what is responsible for my managed payments? I am not aware I have a Payoneer account. If I was delete to this managed payment account would this disassociation of the ebay account and managed payments platform allow the address change? How do I divest myself of everything associated with my ebay usage in Thailand? Would this approach work?

Hi @cobwebcottage ,
I'm not sure why the flagged listing wouldn't allow the revision for age verification to be added as that is the correct procedure to be followed. It may have been tied to the original removal and wouldn't allow the change. However once you create the listing new with the age verification postage from the beginning it should be ok to list as the system will pick up the postage.
Thank you,
Kat

Thanks for your reply, big_shauny.
I am not sure what you mean with what is responsible for your managed payments, or how to delete it or disassociate with your selling activity in Thailand. I think this is because you don't understand how Managed Payments work.
To give you a better understanding of this, please note that all payments used to go through PayPal before, so PayPal was taking care of all payments for all transactions. However, when we split up, we started processing all these payments like PayPal used to do but with our own system, but we call it Managed Payments, you cannot find what is responsible or how to close it or anything like that, it is just the way we process payments. Payoneer was an option for some countries, not all of them, so whether you had a Payoneer account to process your payments or not, it wouldn't be relevant. As advised before, when you started selling with the new payment system, you registered for it, and this cannot be change, I'm afraid.
Hope this clarifies it,
Marco

Thanks Marco, that explains it. Not that I am happy with the restriction on editing my personal details - I think it is a serious flaw on behalf of ebay that this has taken me literally hours of phone calls to ebay and this effort here to get to the bottom of. The error I get on ebay is simply "This change can not be made at this time" but no information as to why.
Please save others from this horrible experience and make it clearer in the website form error feedback when trying to edit your personal address.
Incredibly disappointed.

That's no problem, happy to help.
I understand what you mean, so I will take your feedback, and pass it on, so this can be taken into consideration.
