Hi everybody!

The Community Chat will open at 2pm and will remain open until 3pm on Wednesday. After that it will be closed for further questions. Of course, we will continue to take care of answering any questions that may still be unanswered—We’ll get to everything as quickly as possible.

Please ask your questions in the thread below. In order to be able to answer your questions as quickly as possible, we ask you to have one question per post. Of course, you can make as many posts as you like in the Chat- the more the merrier!

Our eBay Community Team is made up of kat@ebay, marco@ebay and dave@ebay. Between us, we have knowledge in Buying, Selling, Fulfilment, Payments, and the Community itself. Anything we aren’t sure on we’ll know the people who will be! Please ask us any questions you may have and we’ll do all we can to support.

To ask your question, click Reply in the lower-right corner of this post, type your question, and click Reply between 2pm and 3pm. The community team will answer each incoming question in chronological order, and will quote the original question in each answer.

Please note that any reply without a question to the community team or discussion replies may be removed from the chat. We want to keep on track to get through as many questions as possible. We welcome all discussion to be moved to the discussion boards.

If you missed the weekly chat time, please ask your question in the community boards and tag us or we will be back next week with another chat!

Re: Weekly Chat with the eBay Community Team- 09.10.24 @2pm

Am selling an item for personal collection only. I am selling this item on behalf of my parents. It will need to be collected from their address not mine. My address is in the same town. How do I tell the buyer to collect from my parents' address rather than mine?

Hi @ukjon-skrc3w7 ,

Thank you for the post. You will be able to get in contact with the buyer after the listing ends to confirm the address of the collection.

Thank you,

Kat

Re: Weekly Chat with the eBay Community Team- 09.10.24 @2pm

GPSR - I've added contact details for the manufacturers of my items (who are all in the USA) - is this sufficient to comply with the GPSR regs, or will I need to somehow find a responsible person within the EU also?  If the latter case, if I don't add the responsible person, will my listings be automatically be hidden from EU / NI buyers in December or do I have to remove EU / NI from all my listings myself?

Hi mustangbooks, thanks for your question.

You'd need to enter the details for the EU in order to be in compliance. And yes, should the listings not be in compliance, they may be hidden.

Thank you,

Marco

Re: Weekly Chat with the eBay Community Team- 09.10.24 @2pm

I am aware that you can download short demo videos to listings.

Just seen someone that has a hyperlink to their own you tube channel.

Is that allowed with it being an external link. If its OK to do this , might

do it myself.

Yes, but specifically I was asking do I need to fill in the "Economic operator" field for all my items made in the USA, or is filling in the "Product manufacturer" field, as I have already done, sufficient to comply?

Thanks for your reply, mustangbooks

Yes, you'd need to do that in order to be in compliance.

Hi @messier44000

You can add videos from your own channel to the listing if the are relating to the item. For example, guides on how to use the item, unboxing it or showing the condition of the item.

You can find more information on it here.

Thanks,

Dave

Re: Weekly Chat with the eBay Community Team- 09.10.24 @2pm

so, as it is obviously unlikely that many UK sellers will be able to fill that section in, you will be hiding the majority of UK-based listings from EU and NI buyers on December 13th?

Re: Weekly Chat with the eBay Community Team- 09.10.24 @2pm

I there an email address we can contact when we discover another bug on the site? I do try and raise them with either yourself or customer services theres a specific bug thats been effecting postal labels on AG items that has been present since last month, surely a company the size of eBay cant take that long to fix the issue unless its just 1 person trying to fix the site and the messages they pass on are just being placed on the bottom of the list? We know the site is riddled so its just helping eBay if we can direct these to the actual team and not just people who seem to be ignored?

Ps the reporting bug is a whole different issue as that I suspect is working as planned.

Re: Weekly Chat with the eBay Community Team- 09.10.24 @2pm

Can you enlighten me as to how this Feedback is generated?

‘This seller successfully completed an order. ' And it was show as - 'FROM: eBay automated Feedback’

I ask for future reference as my purchase from the seller that was given this Feedback was a sale-fail (refunded).

On ebay's last quarters results, did it publish the number of active buyers and sellers as i can't seem to find the numbers?

Thanks for your question, mustangbooks.

When this regulation comes into effect, any listing that is not in compliance, may be hidden.

Thank you,

Marco

Re: Weekly Chat with the eBay Community Team- 09.10.24 @2pm

At the open event we were told in the GSPR session by somebody I believed was a manager (not the person talking but introduced as she had better knowledge) that no listings would be hidden unless eBay were specifically asked to, so can you confirm that eBay would only hide if they were asked or will eBay hide if we dont fill in this information by the 13th December?

Re: Weekly Chat with the eBay Community Team- 09.10.24 @2pm

If I'm reading it correctly. your own help page says it's only items that are "CE-marked products " that have to have that section filled in, are you saying otherwise?  https://www.ebay.co.uk/help/selling/selling/CE-mark-EU?id=5225

...if my products are not CE-marked will they therefore comply without the "Economic operator" field being filled in?

Hi @pg_kicks ,

No there is no email for this type of report. We take these reports as you have mentioned through customer support channels or here on the community.  Tech work on issues on a priority basis as they are working across a sizeable platform.  All issues reported are directed to the correct team and they are working on them including the recent report one.

Thank you,

Kat

Hi sweetcharity.2013, thanks for your reply.

They are automatically generated based on the factors of the transaction, but that could also happen when feedback is manually left. Sometimes sellers would leave positive feedback for buyers, but then for a different number of reasons, the transaction might be cancelled or refunded depending on the circumstances.

Thank you,

Marco

Hi @exponential_developments

I haven't seen the Q3 results so I don't know what was in the report. If you keep an eye on the reports page here you should be able to find the answer when its published.

Thanks,

Dave

Re: Weekly Chat with the eBay Community Team- 09.10.24 @2pm

Thanks for the reply, I'd hate to see what eBay think is more of a priority than 'ensuring a fair and equitable marketplace for all business sellers' and a bug that is causing sellers to pay for postage lables when they should infact be free. If those are taking longer than 10 days to fix maybe eBay shoudl employ more of better staff in those areas, just a thought I hope you can pass onto the team
