I just came across this in the press .....so sellers lose out
eBay recently changed their fee structure, so it’s now free for private sellers to sell. As part of this change, eBay are now launching Buyer Protection to give buyers more confidence and security when shopping.
From the 4th of February, a Buyer Protection Fee will be included in the item price when purchasing from private sellers, but buyers will only ever pay what they see, so there are no surprises at checkout. This fee will help eBay make the investments into these protections.

"but buyers will only ever pay what they see, so there are no surprises at checkout"
The surprise comes through when you see just how much the fees come to. It's something like £8.00+ for a £200 item. Buyer fees should be made very clear on the listing itself like Vinted does, then there is 0 surprises at any time.

Yes the article says the BPF is included in the item price ,which is not true it is on top of the price so it works out not worth the purchase

Sorry to jump in
i find some of it confused me
i had something on for 11 £
received an offer for 8.92
i clicked on review offer and it said offer 10£
so obviously the 8.92 is including the added buyer fee to make it up to the £10 offer
im just wondering if my buyer offered 10 or not and
at what point does the buyer or eBay decide their offer is including the buyer fee
Yeah I said I was confused

Your buyers offer would have been £10
eBay deduct the fee when they show you will receive £8.92

I am no longer going to be an avid buyer. I tend to buy low cost clothing (for myself & family (a lot of purchases). Most of my parcels arrive just as expected so I am very unhappy at paying an extra £0.75 on all purchases for the few I have a problem with

No buyers lose out!!!! - I was told I had an offer to buy boots at 125 with less than 5 pound postage. But EBay whacked a £6 fee on top (Which was not shown in the offer despite what EBay say) so I had to pay £135!!! As many other buyers have said - it’s fraudulent - if I buy at a price I expect to buy at that price. Not have an invisible fed whacked on top. I won’t buy in EBay again. I hope sellers move to other forums as I have valued many excellent sellers on EBay over the years but EBay itself only seems interested in helping those selling fakes from abroad.
