Hi everybody.I recently purchsed The Beatles In Mono CD Box Set on ebay for £100 new and i'm in doubt as to whether this is genuine or counterfeit. The Please Please Me cd plays through but skips on three tracks. On the Revolver cd the first track "Taxman" has John Lennon counting in the intro which i've never heard before.I have a couple of compilation cd's with Taxman on and theres no intro like that. Also Beatles For Sale has the flip-backs to the cover stuck to the inside of the gatefold cover (shouldn't they be on the outside to the rear of the cover).None of the discs has the manufacturers code on them but does have all the relevant matrix numbers, bar codes,IFPI codes. Can anybody help.

Yes i've tried discogs but it's so confusing i can't tell which is which,so many versions of the same cd all with different numbers.

Does the Help CD have the barcode number on it, shown below? If those 2 are both a match I’m sure it can be figured out with some digging:

If you have the outer box for the box set you need to match the code/s. For eg if it is the Japanese box set with the OBI strips it may be this one but from your pictures it is guesswork:

The cd's have a barcode imprinted on the inner circle of the disc on the silver side (this can be seen in the pictures) but not on the covers of the cd's.

The CD you pictured does show a barcode number on the cover.
It’s hard to say with what I can see. Do you not have a full box set, just 2 standalone CD’s from the Boxset?

Sorry i didn't realise i had not described it as a box set but yes i do have the complete box set.The only reason i'm questioning it is that the gatefold cover for Beatles Folr Sale has the flip-backs on the inside of the sleeve and i thought they should be on the back of the cover.

is it the same as your threads from last week?
Only ask as you did post the sellers names of the boxsets. If those are the ones you purchased - the listings are odd.
they have mispelt Beatles and Bea-tles and have blurred out the Beatles logo.
Now, that might not be any cause for concern, it could be they got the images from somewhere else and just left a hyphen in the name.
But it might also mean they are trying to hide the listings from ebays AI that looks to spot fakes.

Yes.The only reason i'm asking again is that i'm unable to find out the true identity of these cd's.Your comment could be well true as i purchased from one of these sellers. The particular seller i purchased from has had thjeir listing remove by ebay due to as they say "policy violation" but don't say exactly why.

Very difficult for anyone to say. In theory you could have a legit outer box and replacement individual CD’s. Am not saying this is the case but the variables seem to be many.

To me, the pixelated Beatles logo and mispelling of the name would be a big red flag that the seller was trying to get around trademark detection (if not necessarily on ebay, then on amazon or another platform).

Yes it is very difficult but regarding the outer box the black lined square encompassing The Beatles In Mono logo looks to be all out of square (lop-sided) but other than that it seems okay.

It's the same old story that if it's too good to be true then it is.

You really should have started a thread on Discogs...
