Seller said postage but then wouldn’t post?

I purchased an item for nearly £300 the seller has postage available on the description. Once purchased he then said collection only. After multiple days of him attempting to tell us when he would be available to collect /not replying/saying late at night. I requested a cancellation request and told him to accept. He hasn’t accepted it’s now missed the cut off. I have then requested a return and told him to accept it. Is there anything else I can do ? EBay chatbot is obviously not helpful ?

thank you

Re: Seller said postage but then wouldn’t post?

Did you select postage when purchasing the item?

Then, one day after that last estimated date for delivery, proceed this way:

Go right of the item purchased,  and from More Actions select....  I Have Not Received My Item.

If you are not fully refunded within 3 days,  you must escalate the case on day 4 or within 30 days from opening the case,  and eBay will step in and force the refund.

Do not close the case early for any excuse or promise the seller may give,  and do not forget to escalate.

Re: Seller said postage but then wouldn’t post?

I didn’t select postage when purchasing - it was a bid on an item and tbh don’t remember seeing this question ?

eBay replied to my cancellation request (generic email) and said I should ask for a return on the item. I have done that … assuming that is the wrong thing. It is still saying I haven’t collected the item. I have asked the seller to accept the return. If this is the wrong thing to do, do you know how I can say item not received (or actually contact eBay) thanks

Re: Seller said postage but then wouldn’t post?

It all depends  if this was a postage selected item or a collection item.

You do not open a ' Return' case as the seller suggests,  as you have not received the item,  so nothing to return.

Check the listing in your Purchase History if you have selected postage , that is,  buyer or seller pays,  then you will have to wait one day after the last estimated date for delivery to open a case as explained above.

If collection shows as selected,  then you open a case after 7 days,  for item not received.

Once you have successfully opened a case,  listen to no excuses or promises from the seller to close it early,  and if you are not refunded when 3 full days pass you must escalate,  ask eBay to step in, don't forget to do this,  and they'll force the refund.

Re: Seller said postage but then wouldn’t post?

You can't return an item you haven't got.

If you have opened a return case, I am fairly certain you won't now be able to open an 'item not received' case - which is what you needed to do when the seller refused to post or arrange a suitable collection time.

If you do have an open return case, and no item, you will have to contact Ebay Customer Services again.

Explain you have accidentally opened a return case, even though you don't have the item, and that you need to actually open an 'item not received' case.

If you have opened a return request and you are not able to get eBay to change it to an 'Item not received' claim then close the return request and contact your payment provider instead (PayPal or card issuer) to file an 'Item not received' chargeback.
