I wanted to buy an item that I needed quickly, so I chose UK Only. The listing showed the seller to be in Manchester. I received email comfirmation of the order, which showed that the seller is actually in China.
I could have bought the item from Ali Express for half price, but I paid more for get it faster. How are Chinese sellers able to fiddle the item location?

The location on listings show the location of the item, not where the seller is registered.
Many sellers use a UK depot / forwarding company to facilitate a faster dispatch, this is all above board.
The way to check is to click on the seller's feedback to bring up their profile, and there you will see their country of registration, and make your decision to buy from them, or not.

Do you know if you are going to receive the item you purchased . I was told 3 day delivery item isn't in the UK. There is a union jack plastered all over the listing pics I bought from.
13 days from purchase to get a refund what a joke.

You are correct Tressygirl,
The item is being delivered today, so it was in the UK.

There are a lot of sellers here and Amazon who drop ship from China, even the delivery and dispatch time scale is literally the same as if you were to order direct from AE, Temu etc but with a significantly higher mark-up but they present the façade that they're in the UK. I don't care if they have a forwarding company here they drop ship to, it's honestly a similar practice scammers from abroad use with money mules in the local country. It's not "above board" as you keep saying, it's deceptive. I have no problem with Chinese sellers and buy from them on other platforms but I, others filter by UK for a reason.
FYI they don't always have stock in their "UK warehouse" if it even exists for some, as some are not even legitimate and they game the system, it could be that it will come direct from China.
I cancelled an item ordered that was listed in Salford but when I checked the delivery times, they were strange for an item in the UK so, lo and behold found out from the seller it's from China and the item isn't actually here. Direct transparency without going through hoops, checking every single seller's profile is all users want but seems too much to ask for.
