I normally use Firefox, but I’ve discovered that on Chrome, the price of an ebay item changes once you put it into the basket. For example, there is a listing for Readers Digest Gardeners Encylopedia at £23.17. I tested putting that in the basket using the Chrome browser and the cost changed to £22.91. In Firefox, the price stays the same at £23.17. I’ve tested this on lots of examples and the price changes in the basket to all of the items that I’ve tested in Chrome. What on earth is going on?

I've seen similar odd price jumps, some kind of glitch to do with the buyer protection fee probably, are you signed in to your ebay account on both browsers?

I was logged into Firefox, but not into Chrome. It's still happening this morning, but seemingly only when Free Postage is offered. If postage is extra, the listing price remains the same when put in the basket. It's very odd.

There are lots of things like this going on with ebay at the moment.
I suspect they have been using an AI system to "help" them write / update their software.
With inevitable consequences...
