As a buyer , I have little or no control over delivery. There are some courier(s) out there that flat out, do not deliver, etc. I am tired of the endless exercise of "Item not Received." I don't want to use this courier but ebay has forced it on me. Give us a choice. Let us: Sort searches by courier.

Unfortunately eBay are not in the habit of listening to any type of feedback given by their users and responding to it in such a way that they end up doing away with any unpopular changes to the site and replacing them with better options that have been suggested by the very people who actually buy and/or sell on eBay. Even if the unlikely were to happen and an eBay employee came up with a very good idea that would not only be worthwhile implementing but would also be beneficial to eBay, as well as their buyers and sellers, whoever came up with the idea would more than likely end up being outvoted by the vast majority of eBay employees who only ever come up with extremely bad ideas that either result in existing problems being made significantly worse, or new problems being introduced that did not exist previously.
In summary don't expect eBay to take your suggestion seriously and implement the changes necessary to ensure that such an option could be made available to all users across all of their sites. Although your suggestion sounds like a very good idea, eBay don't take the common sense approach when it comes to altering the site, so any requests aimed at eBay with regards to how they could significantly improve their site will more than likely continue to be completely ignored, just like all of the other great ideas that have been suggested by buyers and sellers alike prior to your own idea being put forward.

Much I as I agree with the sentiments - there are a number of issues - When we list something - we have to choose a delivery service - and we have the option of choosing courier X or courier Y - we do not have the choice to put multiple couriers in and on a multi listing - this gets even worse. The courier we choose will depend on a number of factors - the size of the item - the quantity bought - the location of the buyer - any additional products they have purchased at the same time etc - some couriers will take larger items, but are more expensive on smaller ones - some are cheaper for off shore addresses than others - so until a purchase has been made - we can not determine which one would be best for that particular order / customer.
With our products - a lot being light yet bulky - a quantity of 10 will go with one courier - while 50 or 100 go with a different one and bigger quantities may go with a third courier..- so we have to choose 'Other 48 / 24 hour courier'.
Sellers who use the well known 'not so good ' (Not wishing to name names of these couriers for legal reason...!) companies are unlikely to advertise this fact - so all you can do is ask what courier a seller uses and hopefully they come back with an answer you actually get deliveries from..!!

Nice reply.
So at the moment your last statement " so all you can do is ask what courier a seller uses and hopefully they come back with an answer you actually get deliveries from..!!" sums it all up and this sadly, is what I have been doing. I'm just looking for a short cut to this situation.

For private sellers, Simple Delivery is now largely mandatory. That gives the BUYER the choice of which courier delivers their goods not the seller. This could be a solution for you, unless you only buy from business sellers.

'That gives the BUYER the choice of which courier delivers their goods not the seller.'

Unfortunately not.
Simple Del only gives the buyer the choice between 'Standard' and 'Express' delivery. The delivery company providing those services is undisclosed.
Simple Del only has 2 delivery companies on board( at the moment...) they are Royal Mail and Evri.
Evri have a dreadful reputation and many people want to avoid them.
Selllers *are* given the option of dropping Evri from their sale listing, but this makes the remaining Royal Mail's prices slightly more expensive (for no apparent reason except possibly to 'punish' sellers for not allowing Evri to be used...?)
But buyers are *not* given the option to choose the delivery company , regardless how much they don't want their parcel left out on the street or chucked in a wheelie bin....☹️

Tell the whole story - Choice being between EVRI and RM and the seller can actually exclude one or other from the options but e bay can override at their whim (not the buyers!). I have stopped selling because i will not be forced into buying labels through e bay and with the possibility they would override my exclusion of EVRI.

I have put in a bid for an item and am waiting with bated breath to see what happens if i win! I can see nowhere where there is an indication if the person has opted out of EVRI. If they have not and the item is sent via them i know it will not be delivered! This is going to be my one attempt at buying on here, if it does not work then not only will i have stopped selling i will be stopping even looking.

You can generally tell which courier is being used by the price charged.

Best of luck Kath!

Talk about confusing! I have just had notification that i was outbid and i was going to put in another one but then i noticed that on the notification and the bidding history it says postage is free collection in person! The actual site still shows as the postage options as well as free collection.... Not going to bother now, far too difficult to work out what the heck is going on. So e bay have not only lost me as a seller but as a buyer.
18-04-2025 8:44 PM
but i should not have to, it should clearly state you are getting the item via EVRI or RM, not just guess work.

EBay have copied the vinted model
only when you buy there you chose (from the sellers choices too) which carrief best suits you
here you cant
im not sure why
but say both (as there are only two choices for some reason) deliver to you ok what’s wrong with ebays system is that the choice of two is really only a choice of one for many sellers as evri is not local enough to many people as much as a post office is…and even if it was…evri have a bit of a rubbish reputation
bring in custom postage where a seller can send with whatever carrier of the multitudes out there..it’s being taken away in the main ..for what I don’t know

Although I have no means by which to prove my suspicions, I suspect that the reason why Royal Mail and Evri are the only options that can now be used to post items being sold on eBay via Simple Delivery may well have something to do with eBay having secured a deal with both companies to be their main postage providers with Simple Delivery. If this is indeed the case then not only is it limiting the seller's choice as to which carrier to use, but it is also going to result in other couriers, such as DHL, Yodel, etc, losing out with regards to sellers choosing them as their preferred courier when creating listings. By taking away free choice from the sellers as to which carriers they wish to select when setting up their listings this not only shifts control unfairly to eBay, but could also end up backfiring on eBay in the long term as more and more sellers end up getting so cheesed off with eBay wanting to control virtually every aspect of the transaction that they end up making the decision to close their eBay accounts for good and start selling elsewhere, whether on other online selling platforms or, in the case of business sellers running a large company, by setting up their own websites so that their customers can cut out the middleman - ie: eBay - and buy direct for a lower overall price.
