Royal mail / eBay are saying the item was delivered, 2nd class no signature required, but I've never received the item, I've raised this with the seller and eBay and now after a review both of them are refusing to help or offer a refund, so now as the buyer I'm taking the financial hit, I've asked the seller to raise a complaint with Royal mail but I've no idea of any outcome, that said this is the first time in 25 years I've never received an item from eBay I now have no confidence in ever ordering from eBay....

I have an update, after eBay rejected my request for a replacement or refund, I appealed the decision and 3 days later I'm happy to say the appeal was successful and I now have a refund of £3.69..... I know it's a very small amount, but it's that old chestnut, Principles, anyway happy days !

Was it sent 2nd class tracked ?
If so you should be able to see the delivery photo on RM website, where they
often show the home front door.

It wasn't eBay who lost your item it was Royal Mail. That is, if RM has tracking to show delivery this is all the proof eBay require and the seller does not have to refund you.
As it's RM ask your postie where they left the item. Could they have left it with a neighbour? Worth asking around. Ask the postie if they left it in a safe place, as it could, hopefully , still be there.
End of the day , items do get stolen if left on view for passers by, to see.
If it has been stolen and it happens often, peeps have been successful with their home insurance to recompensate them, but maybe worth checking if that would put your premium up next time, might not, if for a small amount.

Thanks for replying, it's just a 2nd class tracking number, which just shows the item delivered with a time, when I've contacted the seller to get the GPS Coordinates he just replied it wasn't possible as it was only 2nd class.
As he's got proof of the item delivered via the tracking number, eBay have sided with him and refused a refund or send a replacement, as the sender surely he can raise a complaint with Royal mail.... I've asked him to but he hasn't and how do I know if he's labelled the item correctly, it's real *bleep* situation !

It is possible you had a new/stand in postie and left it at lets say. 1 Carver View instead of 1 Carver Close. had similar happen to me. ( Addresses are made up)

Agreed it's Royal mail who are responsible, the item was a very small jiffy bag that would easily go through the letter box, so there's no reason for non delivery, it's the seller that should pursue RM as the sender but they are either reluctant or not bothered, Royal mail was their choice to deliver, least they should do is to ensure their items are delivered, in this case they clearly have not.

Yes, but have you only checked tracking on eBay.
Putting the tracking number on the Royal mail website should show the delivery photo
and GPS.
Though the seller should be able to pass this onto you if you ask them to check.

Over the years I must have had getting on for 20 items lost in the post. One time an item turned up 6 months later. I have had other people's mail stuck to the back of mine because of a loose bit of sellotape. I've had mail sliced open by sorting equipment, I've had mail torn and delivered in an "ambulance" bag, I've had mail with footprints on the envelope. I've had mail misdelivered because the postman thought a continental (serifed) "1" was a "7". Stuff happens ...
