Proof of age. Neither my husband nor I own a credit card

Neither my husband nor I own a credit card and I want to bid on some cutlery, but as that includes a knife I have been asked to prove my age using a credit card. Is there another way to prove my age?

Thanks, Liz

No it's not, government has passed legislation for online sales of
offensive weapons, problem is other retailers accept other forms of proof
of age, nanny state, toddlers can reach into cutlery drawer and get a steak
knife 👺

Re: Proof of age. Neither my husband nor I own a credit card

Hi, I can understand your frustration, I am having the same problem when one wants to buy tools on ebay. Their loss.

My other concern is neither the so called government or any companies can protect your data why would they want it again.

If the government had a punishment to fit the crime that would be more affective to address knife crime, which is their excuse for more legislation. Pity they didnt look into that before they rolled out the covid vaccine, or address the Post offices scandal, to name but a few.

What is this country coming to, controlled by a rich parasitic establishment.

For a few extra quid just go elsewhere, to avoid this nonsense.

No wonder more companies and rich are leaving.

Reading other queries, Sorry I think they have lost the plot, its not ebay its the stupid government.

Being a member since 2004, does that not mean anything?

Sorry not much help to you but able to vent my frustrations on what WAS a green a pleasant land!

Yeah - i'm not entirely sure why that advice was given. I have no idea who colloquially calls a debit card a credit card. They might do so - but that doesn't actually make it a credit card. It would be like me colloquially calling my Nissan Qashqai a Ferrari. Doesn't make it one.

Whether a card is a credit or debit card can be identified from the first 6 digits of the long card number.
