It looks like the relationship between Nectar and eBay is changing, as i've just had this email from Nectar
"From the 1st of September, the way you collect and spend Nectar points with eBay is changing.
You will no longer be able to collect or spend Nectar points directly on the eBay website or app, and your Nectar and eBay accounts will be unlinked.
However, you will be able to collect Nectar points on your eBay transactions when you shop via Nectar. Simply search for eBay on the Nectar app or website and click out to the eBay website or app to make your purchase. And the good news is you will be able to collect 2pts for every £1 spent at eBay (instead of the current 1pt per £1)*. Head to https://www.nectar.com/eshops to find out more.
Any vouchers that you have already created on eBay before 31st August will remain valid on eBay until their expiration. Any points you have collected will remain in your Nectar account ready for you to spend on the things you’d like from our other partners like Sainsbury’s, Argos, Esso, British Airways and many more.

so if you want to spend your nectar points on ebay create the vouchers now, and if you want to keep collecting points you'll need to come in via the nectar site/app rather than directly to ebay

I agree , it seems to be hit and miss if you will get an email stating points are pending. There is a scond email that states points are approved , and that point will be awarded soon...
Can anyone comment on points awarded on bidding on an item, are the points awarded when using the link to pay for the item, or is it when the initial bid is placed on the item. Or is bidding not awarded points, only "but it now" sales

My three items were 'buy it now's'. I got the pending email for the two cheaper items then another email a few days later to say those points had been approved. I have heard nothing relating to the pricier item but can not see why it would be excluded.

eBay sent a seven-week warning about big changes to how Nectar points are collected. They even said it was an 'important update' in their email about the eBay-Nectar partnership.
"Nectar members have been warned of an upcoming change to how they collect points while shopping on eBay. In an email sent to users, eBay said they were making an 'important update' on eBay's Nectar partnership."

An eBay spokesperson has revealed to consumer expert Hellen Dewdney, also known as The Complaining Cow. "We regularly review how customers can use Nectar with our partners and today's announcement means some changes to the way Nectar works at eBay. From September 1, the way customers can use Nectar with eBay is changing and they can collect two points for every £1 they spend via nectar.com and the Nectar app."
Dewdney suspects that the decision to scrap eBay seller fees may be a strategic move to counteract rivals like Vinted, but warns it might not fully consider the potential drawbacks for buyers.

I can see a problem now.
I have been following ALL the rules regarding making purchases on Ebay, and have received
loads of emails stating "Your Point Are Pending". In these emails it states you could have to
wait 10 days before points are awarded, I have gone past this time with loads of my purchaes
I think its time to call Nectar.......

Rewards are not available on the following categories: Gold (bars or coins), Charity & Non-Profit items, “Lots More” and “Other Services” (under the Services tab).

The same has happened with me. I have placed three orders since the 1st and followed their instructions implicitly with no avail. So far, I have had no Emails confirming points or points coming from Nectar. It's simple enough instructions but it just doesn't work. If points are still available, then why was there a need to change things?????

I have contacted nectar, and they assured me my points are registered and will be put to my account soon

UPDATE :- I contacted Nectar and was told not to worry , the points will appear soon
Then yesterday some point appeared on my Nectar account, but these point were for recent purchases, they seem to have missed loads of purchases (which I have emails from them saying points are on the way) for a period in early September. These points add up to over 3000 Nectar points, so I will be back on the phone with them today

EBay seem to have washed their hands of Nectar. Nectar are saying you can continue to collect points if it goes through their App. However, Ebay copy and paste "As of 1 September 2024, you are no longer able to collect and spend Nectar points on eBay purchases". (https://www.ebay.co.uk/help/buying/paying-items/ebay-nectar?id=4704).
I tried to collect points on eBay purchases through Nectar App in early Sept and the points were not added.

I've just realised I've had no nectar points from eBay for the last month. There were so many items I got through eBay just because of the nectar points. If I can now I'll just get from Amazon or directly from the sellers site as it's always cheaper or quicker. Well done eBay 👍🏽

I contacted Nectar chatbot about 5000 missing points after going through their website to purchase items. The reply was "As I can check the transaction was made through Nectar but was not successful in order to collect points due to some technical issues while checkout, that is the reason you have not received the confirmation email as well and I am extremely sorry for that. I would go ahead and add 100 points as a goodwill gesture."

I am sorry to say , I have given up with Nectar. I have phoned them a few times now, only to be told they have a technical issue. but they are awarding me points but missing loads of sales. On the missing sales I did get an email from them stating the ponts were approved.
It looks like points are given when they feel like it............................

only just noticed this now so not sure how many points I've missed out on, but never mind that. What I'm hearing is that if I want to continue earning points for eBay purchases then the eBay app has become obsolete as I will need to follow the link through the Nectar app which takes me to eBay in my browser.
As has been mentioned most people won't remember to do it but I suppose uninstalling the eBay app would serve as a good reminder. Either that or stop using nectar. I think it's good that they have doubled the points but I think I would prefer the convenience of earning points without the extra steps required over the extra points.

The new system hasn't worked for me. I've followed there instructions inplicently without any results, so I've given up. Why change something that was working fine to something that doesn't work at all!
