It looks like the relationship between Nectar and eBay is changing, as i've just had this email from Nectar
"From the 1st of September, the way you collect and spend Nectar points with eBay is changing.
You will no longer be able to collect or spend Nectar points directly on the eBay website or app, and your Nectar and eBay accounts will be unlinked.
However, you will be able to collect Nectar points on your eBay transactions when you shop via Nectar. Simply search for eBay on the Nectar app or website and click out to the eBay website or app to make your purchase. And the good news is you will be able to collect 2pts for every £1 spent at eBay (instead of the current 1pt per £1)*. Head to https://www.nectar.com/eshops to find out more.
Any vouchers that you have already created on eBay before 31st August will remain valid on eBay until their expiration. Any points you have collected will remain in your Nectar account ready for you to spend on the things you’d like from our other partners like Sainsbury’s, Argos, Esso, British Airways and many more.
For any questions, please see FAQs here.
In the meantime, you can keep collecting and spending Nectar points at eBay.
To get the most out of Nectar, download the Nectar app.
Thanks,
The Nectar Team"
so if you want to spend your nectar points on ebay create the vouchers now, and if you want to keep collecting points you'll need to come in via the nectar site/app rather than directly to ebay

Could it be something to do with all the hassles Nectar received over the missing points from eBay's April 2024 promotion? The promotion was to download the eBay app and make 3, 4 or 5 purchases to qualify for 500, 1,000 or 1,500 bonus points which would be awarded by 16th May. I followed all the rules and my qualifying purchases were flagged on my eBay Nectar record as qualifying for bonus points. No points appeared. eBay were beyond stupidity in lacking an explanation and I took the matter up with Nectar, itemising all the eBay item numbers, order numbers and details and prices of items purchased. Nectar eventually got back to me and said my points would nwo be awarded within 28 days. At the end of last week Nectar notified me that eBay have now told them not to award the points as the purchases were made through the web and they have no way of knowing whether the mobile app was used for web purchases. Apparently you had to use your roaming data to qualify but this was not made clear at the time. It is only £7.50 worth of poin ts for me, but many others have lost out similarly. After 20 years with eBay I am seriously considering closing my eBay account.

That might be part of it but I don't see how that would affect the spending of Nectar points on ebay?

I think the reason this decision has been made is because eBay are on 'Cashback sites'. The automatic link to nectar gave me points and cashback, thus giving me 'double' rewards for using eBay. Maybe this was costing too much. Now i will have to choose.. but i know it will be cashback everytime as thats money to my bank and not who nectar choose.. 🙃

That does not tally as eBay are now offering 2 points instead of 1. It works out just the same. The only difference is you can't spend them on eBay. It's just eBay greed.

doesn't work out the same, but ok.

It looks like they've made some changes already
I'm trying to convert my nectar points into an ebay voucher ahead of the 1st September deadline - but the web and android app interfaces are broken now - can't see points or make vouchers

Same here, I just tried to view and convert my nectar points but there's nowhere to do it.

That is shocking customer service, chrbac.uye5b7. I converted my British Airways Avios to Nectar a few days ago and then used them up on eBay purchases while I still could get at least something back. I also used the CHEER10 coupon for discount and now it is time to say Cheerio eBay, I don't deal with scammers.

I don't believe this is ebay doing this. I believe it's Nectar under pressure from their corporate partners. Using points buying from sole traders/ mom and pop casuals doesn't fit in with what's coming. They want everyone shopping with big brands.

If it was nectar then they would stop Nectar canvassing points and that does not explain why eBay are covering any mention of it up. They certainly are not condoning the practice.

I sought it out (amongst a blizzard of other vendors on the page) until I realised they are thankfully alphabetised, and then clicked on it and bookmarked it.

Well I converted my nectar points to vouchers a couple of days ago so I could use them on ebay.
Now where the hell are they? Just made a purchase from the USA and I was expecting the £20 to automatically appear, nope.
Have they now introduced a UK only rule or no badges rule?
Maybe I can't see them for looking but they aren't being that obvious to where they are. Can't see them on nectar.com either, no results for ebay search there.

My bad, the vouchers auto appear on UK purchases.

So this nectar / eBay change started today so thought I'd try it out. I've just gone into the nectar app on my phone, clicked on the link to eBay which took me to the eBay web site - so far so good.
Then I had to log onto eBay - again all okay. Opened up my watchlist and clicked on an item. Next thing I was taken to said item IN THE eBay APP and completed the purchase.
So given that nectar points are no longer awarded on purchases through the eBay app, does this mean I'll lose out on these points? Do we have to uninstall the eBay app on our phones, or only purchase from eBay on a PC to ensure we get the points?
According to nectar when making a purchase on eBay via the nectar app or website, you should get an email confirming the transaction, but I've received nothing from them so far.

Nectar is very good at sending you e-mails about new offers, but when it comes to the important stuff, like confirmation emails, they are very lacking. If no e-mail appears, check your Nectar account under activities and it should show within 48 hrs. From what you said, it looks like you have done everything correctly.
