In the last week I have had 2 sellers cancel my winning bid.
The first one I paid & was then refunded, the second I didn't even get the chance to pay for the item.
Ok, so it happens - pretty obvious that both wanted more for their item, escpecially the second one who has already in the last hour relisted the item on a BIN for more.
I'm more annoyed that in the second case the reason for the cancellation is: "Buyer asked to cancel". I definitely did not!
My question is, does it make a difference to the seller which reason for the cancellation they choose to leave? ie if they cancel does it give their account an eBay 'black mark'?
Also both times I got the pop-up asking how 'my' cancellation went - it didn't. Rant over lol.

from the neg you left the seller claimed that you asked to cancel and that means they got off having a defect on their account.
you can contact eBay and inform them that you did not cancel.

It's good to rant ,and you have reason to, but you can take action here too.
This is very bad selling, and you can if you wish contact eBay Customer Services. Serious sanctions can be placed on the seller's account.
Explain you did not authorise this cancellation, and were very disappointed not to receive your item.
eBay will place a damaging defect on their account. It doesn't take many defects for eBay to remove a seller permanently from their site. eBay do not like unhappy buyers, they tend not to come back to their site to buy.
To contact Customer Services the quickest way is through this link below.
You can select a Live Chat or a Call Back option is available when the lines are not busy.
https://www.ebay.co.uk/help/
Lines open between 8 a.m. to10 p.m. on weekdays.
9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekends
I do recommend though, to contact CS, very first thing in the morning when the lines first open at 8 a.m. on weekdays, there's more chance of Dublin answering.

This is a very rant-worthy subject! We've all been there... spent time researching an item, and waited for the auction, then the thrill of winning the item, only for it to be all for nothing! 😭
So disappointing, & it is especially galling when the seller promptly relists for more money...😠
I've also had the 'Buyer asked to cancel' reason, when I did no such thing. Actually, I don't understand how a seller can give this reason unless they have been contacted by the buyer. You would think that option would be 'greyed out' or something, and could only be activated by a cancellation request from the buyer's side.
