How can this be right? I recently purchased a branded shower valve that was advertised as fitting certain dimensions and by a well known manufacturer but when it arrived it was of a different size and did not have the manufacturers name on it so I asked to return it and this was refused by the seller.
I have now contacted the manufacturer and they have confirmed that it is not one of theirs but Ebay say that the Case is closed and I can do nothing about it - I even indicated that I wanted to take the seller to court but all Ebay told me to do was leave feedback.
Is this the way that Ebay protect buyers?

Did you open a return and if so what reason did you choose? I am guessing you chose did not fit. This would be seen as a change of mind return and private sellers do not have to accept these. The reason you needed was “ does not match description”. This can not be refused and the seller would have had to issue a returns label and you would have got your money back. You can not open another return and ebay will not help you. You can try using your payment provider to get your money back.

Did you open a 'not as described' case?

It is nothing to do with ebay so there is nothing to take them to court for. As for the seller, you would need proper legal advice on that.
your best bet is to try your payment provider.

If the listing stated it was a genuine valve you could report to the brand owner as selling a fake.

I have all of the information from Bristan so I am happy to go to the Small Claims Court - are Ebay required to give me the name and address of the seller? Will also try payment provider. Thanks
