Hi, Does anyone know if there is still a way that I can get notified if an item that I am looking for comes for sale on ebay please? I am looking for a specific book. I cannot see anywhere now, that I can ask to be notified if that book is listed on ebay? Thank you 🙂

You run a search for the book as normal. You can ask for UK based results or worldwide etc under "location" in the filter column to the left of the screen ( you have to scroll a good bit down ). Where it says, as an example, 2 results for .... Book (located beneath the search bar, and just above any results ), there should be a little heart symbol. If you click this it should save the search for you.
You can then go into your saved searches and turn on email notifications. This will let you know if one becomes available. Click on the little downward arrow next to My eBay at the top of the screen. Saved searches is about number 8 down the list. To turn on email notifications, find the search you saved, then click on actions. Email notifications will be in there. Click to turn on. You can then go back in there to turn them off again, once you find the book.
They might even let you turn on the email notifications when you click the heart. It used to, at least 😊

Problem i had with that is that Ebay picked up on ANYTHING remotely related to my search and my email went BANG and filled up with nothing related in a day.

Glad to help. Though, As roger_roger_over_and_nowt says, the items shown can be barely related at times. Sometimes it'll be exactly the item, other times, you'll be lucky if it's even a book they'll show you. Sadly, it's the only way I know how to get notified.
If eBay's suggestions end up being absolutely atrocious, your only other option would be to turn off email notifications and use a bookmarked search instead. I have a number of searches that I have bookmarked in Google with all the relevant filters in place, and check these on a regular basis.
Also make sure to check the related items under the results; on numerous occasions this is where I've found the exact item I wanted.

Yeah, they can be pretty awful suggestions. I find the older the saved search, the worse it can be. It can also just give up trying too.
My bookmarked searches probably do find me more of the items I want.
